B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Open the thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the pylon interface.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-10-00-210-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. General Visual Inspection of Pylon Interface Plate Rod Eye Ends for Damage and Wear
   (1) Manually turn the body of the rod (3) to check if the rod is installed in stress free condition:
     (a) If it is possible to turn the body of the rod:
       1 Do a visual inspection of the rod and make sure that there is no wear, no axial and radial play between the rod eye ends and the rod body.
       2 If you find wear or play, remove the rod (Ref. AMM TASK 29-15-61-000-801).
       3 If there is no wear or play fill in the AOT reporting.
     (b) If it is not possible to turn the body of the rod:
       1 Put the rod in stress free condition:
         a Cut and discard the lock wires (1).
         b Loosen the nuts (2).
         c Turn the body of the rod (3) to get the rod in stress free condition.
       2 Remove the rod (Ref. AMM TASK 29-15-61-000-801).
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the removed rod:
     (a) Do a visual inspection of the rod and make sure that there is no wear, no axial and radial play between the rod end eye and the rod body.
     (b) If you find wear or play, replace the rod (Ref. AMM TASK 29-15-61-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-15-61-400-801).
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the structural parts:
     (a) Do a visual inspection of the pylon rod fittings.
       1 Make sure that there is no wear and no hole damage.
     (b) Do a visual inspection of the interface plate rod fittings.
       1 Make sure that there is no wear and no hole damage.
     (c) Do a visual inspection of the front bracket and the upper bracket.
       1 Make sure that there is no visible crack or abnormal deformation.
NOTE: If you find damage it is necessary to contact Airbus.
   (4) Install the rod (Ref. AMM TASK 29-15-61-400-801).
