WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

   (1) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable vent surge tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

   (2) Remove the applicable access panels 550CB (650CB), 550DB (650DB) and 560AB (660AB) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-45-000-001):

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable access panels 550CB, 550DB and 575LB (650CB, 650DB and 675LB).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels 550CB (650CB), 550DB (650DB) and 575LB (675LB) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-45-000-001):
     (a) FOR [34QJ1] (HARNESS-L VENT SURGE TK)
     (b) FOR [34QJ2] (HARNESS-R VENT SURGE TK)

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable access panels 540QB, 550AB, 550BB and 550CB (640QB, 650AB, 650BB and 650CB).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels 540QB (640QB), 550AB (650AB), 550BB (650BB) and 550CB (650CB) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-45-000-001):
     (a) FOR [34QJ1] (HARNESS-L VENT SURGE TK)
     (b) FOR [34QJ2] (HARNESS-R VENT SURGE TK)
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-46-43-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Vent Surge Tank-Harness
   (1) Get access through the opening 550CB(650CB) and loosen :
  • the clamp screw (6)
  • the electrical connector screws (1) and (2).
   (2) Cut and discard the cable ties (4).
   (3) Disconnect the end of the harness (5) from the sensor 28QJ1 (28QJ2).
   (4) Attach a length of CORD - PATCH to the inboard end of the harness (5). This will help to install a new harness.
   (5) Get access through the opening 560AB(660AB) and disconnect the bayonet electrical connector (12) from the connector (8).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (10).
   (8) Get access through the opening 550DB(650DB) and cut and discard the cable tie (7).
   (9) Remove the connector (8) from the hole in RIB26.
   (10) Remove and discard the O-ring (9).
   (11) Carefully pull the harness (5) and the attached end of the CORD - PATCH, outboard from the conduit (3).
   (12) When the CORD - PATCH hangs from the outboard end of the conduit (3), release it from the harness (5).
Subtask 28-46-43-020-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Vent Surge Tank-Harness
   (1) Loosen the clamp screw (6) and the electrical connector screws (1) and (2).
   (2) Cut and discard the cable ties (4).
   (3) Disconnect the end of the harness (5) from the sensor 28QJ1 (28QJ2).
   (4) Attach a length of CORD - PATCH to the inboard end of the harness (5). This will help to install a new harness.
   (5) Disconnect the bayonet electrical connector (12) from the connector (8).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (10).
   (8) Cut and discard the cable tie (7).
   (9) Remove the connector (8) from the hole in the rear spar.
   (10) Remove and discard the O-ring (9).
   (11) Carefully pull the harness (5) and the attached end of the CORD - PATCH, outboard from the conduit (3).
   (12) When the CORD - PATCH hangs from the outboard end of the conduit (3), release it from the harness (5).
Subtask 28-46-43-020-052-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Vent Surge Tank-Harness
   (1) Loosen the clamp screw (9) and the electrical connector screws (10) and (6).
   (2) Cut and discard the cable ties (7).
   (3) Disconnect the end of the harness (8) from the sensor 28QJ1 (28QJ2).
   (4) Attach a length of CORD - PATCH to the outboard end of the harness (8). This will help to install a new harness.
   (5) Disconnect the connector (1) from the bayonet electrical connector (2).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Remove the nuts (3), bolts (5) and the anti-rotation plate (4) from RIB22.
   (8) Remove the bayonet electrical connector (2) from the hole in RIB22.
   (9) Carefully pull the harness (8) and the attached end of the CORD - PATCH, inboard from the conduit.
   (10) When the CORD - PATCH hangs from the inboard end of the conduit, release it from the harness (8).
