BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank. (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(3) Make sure that the access platform is below the applicable zone 540 (640).
(4) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001):
(a) FOR [14QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN B, L WING TK INR)

(1) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
(4) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed that follow:

DO NOT REPAIR CABLES THAT ARE IN FUEL TANKS. DO NOT MAKE IN-LINE SPLICES. IF A CABLE IS DEFECTIVE, YOU MUST REPLACE THE FULL CABLE ASSEMBLY.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION AND ROUTING OF ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES AGREE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ELECTRICAL STANDARD PRACTICES MANUAL.
Subtask 28-42-43-420-094-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Get access to opening 540JB(640JB).
(2) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the interface of the connector 4046VC1 (4046VC2) (34) at RIB 15.
(3) Get access to opening 540BB(640BB).
(4) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from the interface of the connector 4040VC1 (4040VC2) (34) and the rear spar.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
(7) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(8) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(9) Get access to the opening 540AB (640AB).
(10) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probes 22QT1 (22QT2) and 24QT1 (24QT2).
(11) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probes 15QJ1 (15QJ2), 23QJ1 (23QJ2), 24QJ1 (24QJ2) and 39QJ1 (39QJ2).
(12) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 26QT1 (26QT2)).
(13) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 28QT1 (28QT2).
(14) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 25QJ1 (25QJ2).
(15) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 30QT1 (30QT2).
(16) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable cords to the cables for the sensor 26QJ1 (26QJ2) and the fuel probe 32QT1 (32QT2).
(17) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable cords to the cables for the sensor 27QJ1 (27QJ2) and the connector 4046VC1 (4046VC2) (34).
(18) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the cable ends of the harness. This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
Subtask 28-42-43-420-095-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Get access to opening 540JB(640JB).
(2) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the interface of the connector 4046VC1 (4046VC2) (34) at RIB 15.
(3) Get access to opening 540BB(640BB).
(4) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from the interface of the connector 4040VC1 (4040VC2) (34) and the rear spar.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
- the flange and the thread of the connector 4040VC1 (4040VC2) (34)
- the thread of the nut (32)
- the area of the rear spar around the hole for the connector (34)
- the flange and the thread of the connector 4046VC1 (4046VC2) (34)
- the area of the RIB 15 around the hole for the connector (34).
(7) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(8) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(9) Get access to the opening 540AB (640AB).
(10) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probes 22QT1 (22QT2) and 24QT1 (24QT2).
(11) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probes 15QJ1 (15QJ2), 23QJ1 (23QJ2), 24QJ1 (24QJ2) and 39QJ1 (39QJ2).
(12) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 26QT1 (26QT2)).
(13) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 28QT1 (28QT2).
(14) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 25QJ1 (25QJ2).
(15) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable string to the cables for the fuel probe 30QT1 (30QT2).
(16) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable cords to the cables for the sensor 26QJ1 (26QJ2) and the fuel probe 32QT1 (32QT2).
(17) Identify and attach the ends of the applicable cords to the cables for the sensor 27QJ1 (27QJ2) and the connector 4046VC1 (4046VC2) (34).
(18) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the cable ends of the harness. This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
B. Installation of the Wing-Tank Inner-Cell Group B Harness 14QT1 (14QT2)
(1) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 1 and RIB 2 as follows:
(a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and find the string at the conduit end.
(b) Use the string to carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) through the conduit until all the cables come into view.
(c) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(2) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 2 and RIB 3 as follows:
Electrical Harness 13QT1(13QT2) and 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 2, 2/3, 6/7 and 9 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Identify the cable ends for the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2).
(b) Use a CRIMPING TOOL 46447 to crimp the correct color terminal connector (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(c) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2).
(d) Put the cable for the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2) in position.
(e) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the structure and the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2) body with the cable-ties (1).
(f) Identify the cable ends for the sensor 23QJ1(23QJ2).
(g) Identify the cable ends for the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2).
(h) Connect the cable to the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2) with the screws (20) and (23).
(i) TORQUE the screw (20) to between 0.226 and 0.204 m.daN (20.00 and 18.05 lbf.in )
.
(j) TORQUE the screw (23) to between 0.124 and 0.102 m.daN (10.97 and 9.03 lbf.in )
.
(k) Put each cable in its clamp (22) with the screws (21).
(l) TORQUE the screws (21) to between 0.067 and 0.034 m.daN (5.93 and 3.01 lbf.in )
.
(m) Put the cable for the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2) in position.
(n) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the structure with cable-ties (1).
(o) Remove the bolt (4) and the P clip (3).
(p) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the P clip (3) and the bolt (4).
(q) Identify the applicable cable ends for the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
(r) Connect the applicable cables to the terminal of the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2) and tighten the screws (20).
(s) Put the cables for the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2) in position.
(t) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(u) Get access through the door 540AZ(640AZ) to RIB1.
(v) Carefully pull the cables for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2), until it reaches the fuel probe.
(w) Identify the end of the cables for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2).
(x) Use a crimping tool to crimp the correct color terminal connectors (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(y) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2).
(z) Put the cable for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2) in position.
(aa) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2) body and the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(ab) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the cable-ties (1).
(ac) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB).
(ad) Use the string to carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) through the conduit, until the cables come into view.
(ae) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(3) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 3 and RIB 4 as follows:
Electrical Harness 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 3, 7, 11, and 13 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Identify the cable ends for the fuel probe 26QT1(26QT2).
(b) Use a crimping tool to crimp the correct color terminal connectors (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(c) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 26QT1(26QT2).
(d) Put the cable for the fuel probe 26QT1(26QT2) in position.
(e) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the fuel probe 26QT1(26QT2) body and the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(f) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB) to RIB7 and find the end of the string at the end of the conduit.
(g) Use the string to carefully pull the harness through the conduit until it comes into view.
(h) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(4) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 7 and RIB 8 as follows:
(a) Identify the cable ends for the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2).
(b) Use a crimping tool to crimp the correct color terminal connectors (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(c) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2).
(d) Put the cables of the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2) in position.
(e) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2) body and the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1).

(1) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 1 and RIB 2 as follows:
(a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and find the string at the conduit end.
(b) Use the string to carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) through the conduit until all the cables come into view.
(c) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(2) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 2 and RIB 3 as follows:
Electrical Harness 13QT1(13QT2) and 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 2, 2/3, 6/7 and 9 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Identify the cable ends for the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2).
(b) Use a CRIMPING TOOL 46447 to crimp the correct color terminal connector (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(c) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2).
(d) Put the cable for the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2) in position.
(e) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the structure and the fuel probe 24QT1(24QT2) body with the cable-ties (1).
(f) Identify the cable ends for the sensor 23QJ1(23QJ2).
(g) Identify the cable ends for the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2).
(h) Connect the cable to the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2) with the screws (20) and (23).
(i) TORQUE the screw (20) to between 0.226 and 0.204 m.daN (20.00 and 18.05 lbf.in )

(k) Put each cable in its clamp (22) with the screws (21).
(l) TORQUE the screws (21) to between 0.067 and 0.034 m.daN (5.93 and 3.01 lbf.in )

(m) Put the cable for the sensor 15QJ1(15QJ2) in position.
(n) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the structure with the cable-ties (1).
(o) Install the nylon spacers (5) between the applicable harnesses with the cable-ties (1).
(p) Remove the bolt (4) and the P clip (3).
(q) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the P clip (3) and the bolt (4).
(r) Identify the applicable cable ends for the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
(s) Connect the applicable cables to the terminal of the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2) and tighten the screws (20).
(t) Put the cables for the sensors 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2) in position.
(u) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1) or AIPC 28-42-85-21-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(v) Get access through the door 540AZ(640AZ) to RIB1.
(w) Carefully pull the cables for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2), until it reaches the fuel probe.
(x) Identify the end of the cables for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2).
(y) Use a crimping tool to crimp the correct color terminal connectors (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(z) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2).
(aa) Put the cable for the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2) in position.
(ab) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the fuel probe 22QT1(22QT2) body and the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1) or AIPC 28-42-85-21-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(ac) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the cable-ties (1).
(ad) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB).
(ae) Use the string to carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) through the conduit, until the cables come into view.
(af) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.

Electrical Harness 13QT1(13QT2) and 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 6, 13 and 15 and at the Rear Spar - Detail and Location ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Connect the cable to the sensor 26QJ1(26QJ2) with the screws (20) and (23).
(c) TORQUE the screw (20) to between 0.226 and 0.204 m.daN (20.00 and 18.05 lbf.in )
. (d) TORQUE the screw (23) to between 0.124 and 0.102 m.daN (10.97 and 9.03 lbf.in )
. (e) Put the cables in position in the clamp (22) with the screws (21).
(f) TORQUE the screws (21) to between 0.067 and 0.034 m.daN (5.93 and 3.01 lbf.in )
. (g) Put the cables for the sensor 26QJ1(26QJ2) in position.
(h) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach it to the structure with the cable-ties (1).
(i) Get access through the opening 540HB(640HB) to RIB13 and find the string at the end of the conduit.
(j) Use the string to carefully pull the harness through the conduit until it comes into view.
(k) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(7) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 13 and RIB 14 as follows:
Electrical Harness 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 3, 7, 11, and 13 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Use a crimping tool to crimp the correct color terminal connectors (2) to the color identified wires ESPM 2048140.
(c) Connect the terminal connectors (2) to the terminals of the terminal block of the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2).
(d) Put the cables for the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2) in position.
(e) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2) body and the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1) or AIPC 28-42-85-21-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(f) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB) to RIB14 and RIB15 and find the string at the end of the conduit.
(g) Use the string to carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) through the conduit until it comes into view.
(h) Remove and discard the string and the tape from the harness.
(8) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 14 and RIB 15 as follows:

(c) TORQUE the screw (20) to between 0.226 and 0.204 m.daN (20.00 and 18.05 lbf.in )
. (d) TORQUE the screw (23) to between 0.124 and 0.102 m.daN (10.97 and 9.03 lbf.in )
. (e) Put each cable in its clamp (22) with the screws (21).
(f) TORQUE the screws (21) to between 0.067 and 0.034 m.daN (5.93 and 3.01 lbf.in )
. (g) Put the cable for the sensor 27QJ1(27QJ2) in position.
(h) Make a coil of the unwanted cable and attach the harness to the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1) or AIPC 28-42-85-21-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(i) Remove the nuts (40), the bolts (42), the anti-rotation plate (41) and the connector 4046VC1(4046VC2) (34).
(j) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
(k) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) to the threads of the connector (34).
(9) Install the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) between RIB 15 and RIB 16 as follows:

Electrical Harness 13QT1(13QT2) and 14QT1(14QT2) at RIBS 2, 2/3, 6/7 and 9 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Use a crimping tool to crimp the connector pins on the wires of the connector (34) ESPM 2048140.
(c) Insert the connector pins into the connector (34).
(d) Tighten the clamp screws (36) of the backshell (35). Make sure that the cable is firmly clamped in the backshell (35).
(e) Safety the clamp screws (36) and the backshell (35) with lockwire.
(f) Install the new AIPC 28-42-43-01-030 O-RING (30) or AIPC 28-42-85-24-040 O-RING (30) on the connector (34).
(g) Put the connector (34) in position in the hole in RIB15.
(h) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB) to RIB15.
(i) Install the washer (31) and the nut (32) on the connector (34).
(j) TORQUE the nut to between 0.92 and 0.84 m.daN (81.42 and 74.34 lbf.in )
. (k) Safety the nut (32) with the anti-rotation plate (41), the bolts (42) and the nuts (40).
(l) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) around the connector (34) to seal it to the rear spar.
(m) Remove the blanking cap and connect the plug connector (33) to the connector (34).
(n) Clean the plug connector (33) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(o) Apply a continuous layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the plug connector (33).
(p) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB).
(q) Put the cable for the connector (34) in position.
(r) Attach the harness 14QT1(14QT2) to the structure with the AIPC 28-42-05-20-010 CABLE-TIES (1) or AIPC 28-42-85-21-010 CABLE-TIES (1).
(s) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB) to RIB7.
(t) Identify the cable ends for the connector 4040VC1(4040VC2) (34).
(u) Use a crimping tool to crimp the connector pins on the wires of the connector (34) ESPM 2048140.
(v) Insert the connector pins into the connector (34).
(w) Tighten the clamp screws (36) of the backshell (35). Make sure that the cable is firmly clamped in the backshell (35).
(x) Safety the clamp screws (36) and the backshell (35) with lockwire.
(y) Remove the blanking cap and apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) to the threads of the connector (34).
(z) Install the AIPC 28-42-43-01-030 O-RING (30) or AIPC 28-42-85-24-040 O-RING (30) on the connector (34).
(aa) Put the connector (34) in position in the hole on the rear spar.
(ab) Get access through the opening 574BB(674BB) to the rear spar.
(ac) Install the washer (31) and the nut (32) on the connector (34).
(ad) TORQUE the nut (32) to between 1.27 and 1.16 m.daN (112.39 and 102.65 lbf.in )
. (ae) Safety the nut (32) with
(af) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) around the connector (34) to seal it to the rear spar.
(ag) Remove the blanking cap and connect the plug connector (33) to the connector (34).
(ah) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB).
(ai) Remove the bolts (4) and the P clips (3) and put the cable (for the connector (34)) in position.
(aj) Attach the harness to the structure with the P clips (3), the bolts (4) and the cable-ties (1).
C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
