WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

   (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).

   (2) Remove the applicable panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) , (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001):
     (a) FOR [14QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN B, L WING TK INR)
  • remove 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 574BB
  • open 540AZ
     (b) FOR [14QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN B, R WING TK INR)
  • remove 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB, 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 674BB
  • open 640AZ.
   (3) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the door 540AZ (640AZ).

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels that follow:
     (a) FOR [14QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN B, L WING TK INR)
Remove 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, 540HB, 540JB and 540KB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001).
     (b) FOR [14QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN B, R WING TK INR)
Remove 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB, 640HB, 640JB and 640KB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001).
   (3) Remove the applicable access doors that follow:
     (a) FOR [14QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN B, L WING TK INR)
Remove 574BB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-009).
     (b) FOR [14QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN B, R WING TK INR)
Remove 674BB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-009).
   (4) Remove the applicable RIB2 access panels that follow:
     (a) FOR [14QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN B, L WING TK INR)
Remove 540AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
     (b) FOR [14QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN B, R WING TK INR)
Remove 640AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-42-43-020-093-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Wing-Tank Inner-Cell Group B Harness 14QT1 (14QT2)
   (1) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 1, RIB 2 and RIB 3 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and the access door 540AZ(640AZ) to:
  • the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2)
  • the fuel sensors 15QJ1(15QJ2), 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the sensors 15QJ1(15QJ2), 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2).
     (f) Remove the bolt (4) to release the P clip (3).
     (g) Remove the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the P clip (3) and use the bolt (4) to temporarily install the P clip (3).
     (h) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 39QJ1(39QJ2).
     (i) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (2) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 7 as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Get access through the opening 574BB(674BB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4040VC1(4040VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB) to the rear spar.
     (g) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Retain the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove the bolt (4) from the P clip (3), then remove and retain the P clip (3).
     (n) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2).
     (o) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (p) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2) body.
   (3) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540CB(640CB).
     (b) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 25QJ1(25QJ2).
     (c) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (4) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 11 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540FB(640FB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 30QT1(30QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (5) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 13 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540GB(640GB).
     (b) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 26QJ1(26QJ2).
     (c) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Get access through the opening 540HB(640HB).
     (e) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2).
     (f) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (g) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2) body.
   (6) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 14 as follows:
     (a) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the sensor 27QJ1(27QJ2).
     (b) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (7) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4046VC1(4046VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a blanking cap on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove the nuts (40) and the bolts (42) and the anti-rotation plate (41).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB).
     (g) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) from the rib mounting and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Retain the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (n) Attach applicable lengths of STRING - DRAW to each of the ends of the disconnected harness 14QT1(14QT2). This will help to install the new harness.
     (o) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the ends of the disconnected harness 14QT1(14QT2). This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
   (8) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) from between RIB 6 and RIB 7 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB).
     (b) Carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the inboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.
     (c) Carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the outboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.
     (d) Carefully pull the full harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the connector 4046VC1(4046VC2) until all the string come into view.
     (e) Identify and mark the string. This will help to install the new harness.
     (f) Remove and discard the tape from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and remove the harness from the string.
     (g) Remove the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the aircraft.
     (h) Leave the string in position for the installation.
Subtask 28-42-43-020-093-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Wing-Tank Inner-Cell Group B Harness 14QT1 (14QT2)
   (1) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 1, RIB 2 and RIB 3 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and the access door 540AZ(640AZ) to:
  • the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2)
  • the fuel sensors 15QJ1(15QJ2), 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the sensors 15QJ1(15QJ2), 23QJ1(23QJ2) and 24QJ1(24QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probes 22QT1(22QT2), 24QT1(24QT2) and 26QT1(26QT2).
     (f) Remove and keep the nylon spacers (5).
     (g) Remove the bolt (4) to release the P clip (3).
     (h) Remove the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the P clip (3) and use the bolt (4) to temporarily install the P clip (3).
     (i) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 39QJ1(39QJ2).
     (j) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (2) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 7 as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Get access through the opening 574BB(674BB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4040VC1(4040VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB) to the rear spar.
     (g) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Keep the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove the bolt (4) from the P clip (3), then remove and keep the P clip (3).
     (n) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2).
     (o) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (p) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probe 28QT1(28QT2) body.
   (3) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540CB(640CB).
     (b) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 25QJ1(25QJ2).
     (c) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (4) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 11 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540FB(640FB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 30QT1(30QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (5) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 13 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540GB(640GB).
     (b) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 26QJ1(26QJ2).
     (c) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (d) Get access through the opening 540HB(640HB).
     (e) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2).
     (f) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (g) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and the fuel probe 32QT1(32QT2) body.
   (6) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 14 as follows:
     (a) Loosen the clamp screw (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the sensor 27QJ1(27QJ2).
     (b) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
   (7) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) at RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4046VC1(4046VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a blanking cap on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove the nuts (40) and the bolts (42) and the anti-rotation plate (41).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB).
     (g) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) from the rib mounting and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Retain the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 14QT1(14QT2).
     (n) Attach applicable lengths of STRING - DRAW to each of the ends of the disconnected harness 14QT1(14QT2). This will help to install the new harness.
     (o) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the ends of the disconnected harness 14QT1(14QT2). This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
   (8) Remove the harness 14QT1 (14QT2) from between RIB 6 and RIB 7 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB).
     (b) Carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the inboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.
     (c) Carefully pull the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the outboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.

     (f) Remove and discard the tape from the harness 14QT1(14QT2) and remove the harness from the string.
     (g) Remove the harness 14QT1(14QT2) from the aircraft.
     (h) Leave the string in position for the installation.
