A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):
     (a) FOR [13QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN A, L WING TK INR)
remove 540AB, 540BB, 540DB, 540GB, 540JB, 540KB, 574BB open 540AZ
     (b) FOR [13QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN A, R WING TK INR)
remove 640AB, 640BB, 640DB, 640GB, 640JB, 640KB, 674BB open 640AZ.
   (3) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the door 540AZ (640AZ).
Subtask 28-42-43-010-063-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels that follow:
     (a) FOR [13QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN A, L WING TK INR)
Remove 540AB, 540BB, 540DB, 540GB, 540JB, 540KB and 574BB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
     (b) FOR [13QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN A, R WING TK INR)
Remove 640AB, 640BB, 640DB, 640GB, 640JB, 640KB and 674BB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
   (3) Remove the applicable RIB2 access panel 540AZ ( 640AZ) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-42-43-020-091-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Wing-Tank Inner-Cell Group A Harness 13QT1 (13QT2)
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 1 and RIB 2 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and the access door 540AZ(640AZ) to:
  • the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2)
  • the fuel sensors 16QJ1(16QJ2), 29QJ1(29QJ2) and 38QJ1(38QJ2)
  • the sensor cadensicon 19QT1(19QT2).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2) and the sensor cadensicon 19QT1(19QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the fuel sensors 16QJ1(16QJ2), 29QJ1(29QJ2) and 38QJ1(38QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and from the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2).
     (f) Remove the bolt (4) to release the P clip (3).
     (g) Remove the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the P clip (3) and use the bolt (4) to temporarily install the P clip (3).
     (h) Remove the spacer sleeve (6) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2).
   (2) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 3, RIB 4 and RIB 5 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB (640AB) and the openings in RIB3, RIB4 and RIB5.
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 27QT1(27QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness.
   (3) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 6 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 574BB(674BB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4039VC1(4039VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540BB (640BB) to the rear spar.
     (g) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Retain the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove the bolt (4) from the P clip (3), then remove and keep the P clip (3).
   (4) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540DB(640DB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 29QT1(29QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the end of the harness.
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and the fuel probe 29QT1(29QT2).
   (5) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 13 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540GB(640GB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 31QT1(31QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 17QJ1(17QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2).
   (6) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) inboard of RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4045VC1(4045VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a blanking cap on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove the bolts (43), the nuts (45) and the anti-rotation plate (44).
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (f) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (g) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB).
   (7) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) outboard of RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (b) Remove the connector (34) from the rib mounting and discard the O-ring (30).
     (c) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (e) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the plug connector (34) and retain the backshell connector (35).
     (f) Remove and discard the connector pins from the wires of the connector (34).
     (g) Temporarily install the connector (34) with the washer (31) and the nut (32).
     (h) Temporarily install the anti-rotation plate (44) with the bolts (43) and the nuts (45).
     (i) Attach applicable lengths of STRING - DRAW to each of the ends of the disconnected harness 13QT1(13QT2). This will help to install the new harness.
     (j) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the ends of the disconnected harness 13QT1(13QT2). This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
   (8) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) from between RIB 6 and RIB 7 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB).
     (b) Carefully pull the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the inboard part of the conduit until the ends attached to the string comes into view.
     (c) Carefully pull the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the outboard part of the conduit until the ends attached to the string come into view.
     (d) Carefully pull the full harness 13QT1(13QT2) and the connector 4039VC1(4039VC2) until all the string is in view.
     (e) Identify and mark the string. This will help to install the new harness 13QT1(13QT2).
     (f) Remove and discard the tape from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and remove the harness from the string.
     (g) Remove the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the aircraft.
     (h) Leave the string in position for the installation.
Subtask 28-42-43-020-091-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Wing-Tank Inner-Cell Group A Harness 13QT1 (13QT2)
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 1 and RIB 2 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and the access door 540AZ(640AZ) to:
  • the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2)
  • the fuel sensors 16QJ1(16QJ2), 29QJ1(29QJ2) and 38QJ1(38QJ2)
  • the sensor cadensicon 19QT1(19QT2).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2) and the sensor cadensicon 19QT1(19QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the fuel sensors 16QJ1(16QJ2), 29QJ1(29QJ2) and 38QJ1(38QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and from the fuel probes 21QT1(21QT2), 23QT1(23QT2) and 25QT1(25QT2).
     (f) Remove and keep the nylon spacers (5).
     (g) Remove the bolt (4) to release the P clip (3).
     (h) Remove the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the P clip (3) and use the bolt (4) to temporarily install the P clip (3).
     (i) Remove the spacer sleeve (6) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2).
   (2) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 3, RIB 4 and RIB 5 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540AB(640AB) and the openings in RIB3, RIB4 and RIB5.
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 27QT1(27QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness.
   (3) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 6 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 574BB(674BB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4039VC1(4039VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (e) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (f) Get access through the opening 540BB (640BB) to the rear spar.
     (g) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (h) Remove the connector (34) and discard the O-ring (30).
     (i) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (j) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (k) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the connector (34).
     (l) Retain the backshell connector (35) and the connector (34).
     (m) Remove the bolt (4) from the P clip (3), then remove and keep the P clip (3).
   (4) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540DB(640DB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 29QT1(29QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the end of the harness.
     (d) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and the fuel probe 29QT1(29QT2).
   (5) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) at RIB 13 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540GB(640GB).
     (b) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 31QT1(31QT2).
     (c) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the ends of the harness.
     (d) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cable from the sensor 17QJ1(17QJ2).
     (e) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 13QT1(13QT2).
   (6) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) inboard of RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540JB(640JB).
     (b) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4045VC1(4045VC2) (34).
     (c) Put a blanking cap on the plug connector (33).
     (d) Remove the bolts (43), the nuts (45) and the anti-rotation plate (44).
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (32).
     (f) Remove the nut (32) and the washer (31) from the connector (34).
     (g) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB).
   (7) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) outboard of RIB 15 as follows:
     (a) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from between the connector (34) and the tank wall.
     (b) Remove the connector (34) from the rib mounting and discard the O-ring (30).
     (c) Remove and discard the lockwire and loosen the clamp screws (36).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the backshell connector (35).
     (e) Remove the backshell connector (35) from the plug connector (34) and retain the backshell connector (35).
     (f) Remove and discard the connector pins from the wires of the connector (34).
     (g) Temporarily install the connector (34) with the washer (31) and the nut (32).
     (h) Temporarily install the anti-rotation plate (44) with the bolts (43) and the nuts (45).
     (i) Attach applicable lengths of STRING - DRAW to each of the ends of the disconnected harness 13QT1(13QT2). This will help to install the new harness.
     (j) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the ends of the disconnected harness 13QT1(13QT2). This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
   (8) Remove the harness 13QT1 (13QT2) from between RIB 6 and RIB 7 as follows:
     (a) Get access through the opening 540BB(640BB).
     (b) Carefully pull the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the inboard part of the conduit until the ends attached to the string comes into view.
     (c) Carefully pull the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the outboard part of the conduit until the ends attached to the string come into view.
     (d) Carefully pull the full harness 13QT1(13QT2) and the connector 4039VC1(4039VC2) until all the string is in view.
     (e) Identify and mark the string. This will help to install the new harness 13QT1(13QT2).
     (f) Remove and discard the tape from the harness 13QT1(13QT2) and remove the harness from the string.
     (g) Remove the harness 13QT1(13QT2) from the aircraft.
     (h) Leave the string in position for the installation.
