A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

Wing Tank - Access Panel Locations ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable access zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):
(a) FOR [15QT1] (HARNESS-CHAN A, L WING TK OUTR)
remove 540JB 540KB 540LB 540MB 540NB 540PB 540QB

(b) FOR [15QT2] (HARNESS-CHAN A, R WING TK OUTR)
remove 640JB 640KB 640LB 640MB 640NB 640PB 640QB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-42-43-020-071-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Wing-Tank Outer-Cell Group A Harness 15QT1 (15QT2)
(1) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB) to RIB15.
(2) Disconnect the plug connector (33) from the connector 4045VC1(4045VC2) (34).
(3) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the connector (34).
(4) Remove the anti-rotation plate (44) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-43-000-006).
(5) Get access through the opening 540LB(640LB) to RIB16.
(6) Disconnect the terminal connectors (2) from the terminal block of the fuel probe 33QT1(33QT2).

Electrical Harness 15QT1(15QT2) at RIBS 16 and 18 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(7) Remove and discard the terminal connectors (2) from the harness 15QT1(15QT2).
(8) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 15QT1(15QT2) and the fuel probe 33QT1(33QT2) body.
(9) Get access through the opening 540NB(640NB) to RIB18.
(10) Loosen the clamp screws (21), the connector screws (20) and (23) and remove the cables from the sensor 30QJ1(30QJ2).

Electrical Harness 15QT1(15QT2) at RIBS 16 and 18 - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(11) Get access through the opening 540QB(640QB) to RIB21.
(12) Remove the bolts (52) and the washers (51) to release the cable connectors (50) that are grounded.

Electrical Harness 16QT1(16QT2) at RIB 21 Inboard and Outboard - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(13) Temporarily install the washers (51) and the bolts (52).
(14) Remove and discard the cable-ties (1) from the harness 15QT1(15QT2).
(15) Attach applicable lengths of STRING - DRAW to each of the ends of the disconnected harness 15QT1(15QT2). This will help to install the new harness.
(16) Put TAPE - SELF-AMALGAMATING around each of the ends of the disconnected harness 15QT1(15QT2). This will help to let it move more easily through the conduit.
(17) Get access through the opening 540NB(640NB) to RIB18.
(18) Carefully pull the harness 15QT1(15QT2) from the outboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.
(19) Get access through the opening 540KB(640KB) to RIB15.
(20) Carefully pull the harness 15QT1(15QT2) from the inboard part of the conduit, until the ends attached to the string come into view.
(21) Identify and mark the string. This will help to install the new harness.
(22) Remove and discard the tape from the harness and remove the harness from the string.
(23) Remove the harness 15QT1(15QT2) from the aircraft.
(24) Leave the string in position for the installation.
