A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Defuel the applicable Additional Center Tank (ACT) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (4) Drain the remaining fuel from the ACT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (5) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the panels that follow, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system:
- Refuel/Defuel panels 800VU and 801VU
- Fuel control panel 40VU
- ACT control panel 28VU.

C. Get Access
   (1) For the location of the ACT AFT1 and ACT AFT2 refer to Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 28-28-00-00).
   (2) FOR [69QT] (PROBE-FQI NO 1, ACT1)
     (a) Remove the sufficient carpet from the passenger compartment floor to get access to cabin floor panels 251TG, 251BG, 251CG and 251DG (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-41-000-001).
     (b) Remove cabin floor panels 251TG, 251BG, 251CG and 251DG (Ref. AMM TASK 53-00-00-000-801).
     (c) Remove cargo-compartment ceiling panel 151AY (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002).
   (3) FOR [70QT] (PROBE-FQI NO 2, ACT1)
     (a) Remove the sufficient carpet from the passenger compartment floor to get access to cabin floor panels 252DG, 252CG, 252BG and 251TG (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-41-000-001).
     (b) Remove cabin floor panels 252DG, 252CG, 252BG and 251TG (Ref. AMM TASK 53-00-00-000-801).
     (c) Remove cargo-compartment ceiling panel 151AY (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002).
   (4) FOR [71QT] (PROBE-FQI NO.1, ACT 2)
     (a) Remove the sufficient carpet from the passenger compartment floor to get access to cabin floor panels 251AF, 251BF, 251CF, 251DF and 251EG (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-41-000-001).
     (b) Remove cabin floor panels 251AF, 251BF, 251CF, 251DF and 251EG (Ref. AMM TASK 53-00-00-000-801).
     (c) Remove cargo-compartment ceiling panel 151AC (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002).
   (5) FOR [72QT] (PROBE-FQI NO.2, ACT 2)
     (a) Remove the sufficient carpet from the passenger compartment floor to get access to cabin floor panels 252EG, 252EF, 252CF, 252BF and 251AF (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-41-000-001).
     (b) Remove cabin floor panels 252EG, 252EF, 252CF, 252BF and 251AF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-00-00-000-801).
     (c) Remove cargo-compartment ceiling panel 151AC (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-42-24-020-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fuel Quantity Indicator (FQI) Probe
NOTE: The subsequent procedure is the same for each tank. Therefore only one is given.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connections:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the receptacle (2).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Remove the bolts (3), the washer (4) and the bonding strap (5) from the flange (8) of the FQI probe (9).
   (3) Remove and discard the sealing rings (12).
   (4) Safety the bonding strap (5) to the ACT structure.
   (5) Carefully remove the FQI probe (9) from the funnel (10) of the ACT base plate (11).
   (6) Remove and discard the O-rings (6) and (7).
   (7) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
