   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-42-21-420-052-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of Fuel Quantity Preselector 5QT
   (1) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connections.
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE PRESELECTOR TOO FAR AND DO NOT LET IT HANG ON THE ELECTRICAL CABLE. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE COMPONENT DURING THE PROCEDURE. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO COMPONENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (2) Connect the electrical plug (1). If it is not possible to connect the electrical plug (1) adjust the position of the backshell as follows ESPM 2033450:
     (a) Loosen the backshell on the electrical plug (1).
     (b) Turn the backshell until the electrical plug (1) can be connected.
     (c) Tighten the backshell on the electrical plug (1).
   (3) Install the preselector (2) in the mounting frame back-plate. Make sure the spigot on the preselector (2) engages correctly in the mounting frame back-plate.
   (4) Tighten the two quick-release fasteners (3).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Do a status report (BITE) of the fuel quantity indicating-system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-001).
