A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-40-00-860-081-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is refueled for the subsequent flight.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-40-00-040-087-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Make sure that the Fuel Tank Contains the Correct Quantity of Fuel (and not contamination such as unwanted free water).
   (1) Do the procedure that follows:
     (a) Do a test of the high level sensors (Ref. AMM TASK 28-46-00-710-001).
     (b) Fully refuel the wing tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003) until:
  • The high level sensors operate
    and
  • On the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel 800VU the high level lights come on.
     (c) Multiply the total volume of the fuel refueled by its specific gravity. The result is the total mass of the fuel refueled.
NOTE: The total quantity of the fuel is equal to the maximum capacity of the wing tanks. The difference between the maximum capacity and the quantity of the fuel uplifted is the quantity of the fuel initially available before the refuel.
     (d) If necessary, defuel the wing tanks to keep the necessary quantity of fuel for the subsequent flight (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-40-00-860-080-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell the flight crew that:
  • the applicable wing tank inner-cell ECAM fuel quantity indication is unserviceable.
   (3) Write an applicable entry in the aircraft technical log.
Subtask 28-40-00-942-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
