1. Reason for the Job
Introduce maintenance procedure to check that there is no fuel in ACT 2.
This deactivation task is not related to an AFM-CDL/MMEL item.

A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the access door 192MB.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Move the fuel from the ACT 2 into the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
NOTE: Act 2 will contain a small quantity of unusable fuel after:
  • the contents have been used in flight
  • the contents have been moved to the center tank when the aircraft is on the ground.
It is possible to collect this unusable fuel on the ground through the water drain valves. Typically, this drainable fuel will have a volume of approximately 14 l (3.6984 USgal).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the ACT 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-40-00-040-083-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Fuel Configuration
   (1) On panel 801VU, lift the guard and put the ACT 2 REFUEL VALVE switch in the SHUT position.
   (2) Refuel the other fuel tanks to the necessary quantity (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
   (3) Repeat the procedure to drain the remaining fuel from the ACT 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005) to make sure that the ACT 2 stays empty after refuel.
NOTE: The ACT 2 must not contain any fuel. It must stay empty after the other tanks have been refueled.
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-40-00-860-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell the flight crew that the low level sensors in the ACT 2, are unserviceable.
   (2) Make a note in the aircraft technical log:
  • that the ACT 2 is empty of fuel
  • the low level sensors in the ACT 2 are unserviceable.

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) On panel 801VU:
  • make sure that the ACT 2 REFUEL VALVE switch is in the SHUT position
  • attach a WARNING NOTICE(S) to the ACT 2 REFUEL VALVE switch. This is to tell personnel not to use the switch in the NORM or OPEN positions.
   (3) Close the access door 192MB.

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
