Installation of the ACT Isolation-Valve Actuator
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 28-28-71-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system, you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
(7) Make sure that the left Main Landing Gear (MLG) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(8) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the left MLG door.
Subtask 28-28-71-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system, you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
- On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
- On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
- On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
(7) Make sure that the left Main Landing Gear (MLG) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(8) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the left MLG door.
B. Preparation for Installation
4. ProcedureCAUTION:
DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE DRIVE OF THE ACTUATOR BECAUSE YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Before you install an actuator Part Number HTE190001 and/or HTE190026, you must do the dimensional inspection of the dowel (anti-rotation) on twin motor actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-200-002). Subtask 28-28-71-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ACT Isolation-Valve Actuator
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 28-28-83-05-090 O-RING (11).
(b) Install the new AIPC 28-28-83-05-090 O-RING (11) on the mounting flange (7).
(5) Install the mounting flange (7) on the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1) as follows:
(a) Install the V-clamp (10) on the mounting flange (7).
(b) Close the V-clamp (10) and tighten the screw (9).

(6) Put the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1) in position. Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves.
(7) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of the studs (6).
(8) Install the bonding strap (3) on the mounting flange (7) with the screw (5), the washer (4) and the nut (2).
(9) TORQUE the nuts (2) to between 3.22 and 2.69 m.daN (23.75 and 19.84 lbf.ft )

(10) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(11) Install the nuts (8).
(12) TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in )

(14) Connect the electrical connectors (12) to the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1).
Subtask 28-28-71-650-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
NOTE: A locating pin is installed on the mounting flange for the correct installation of the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1).
(4) Installation of the new AIPC 28-28-83-05-090 O-RING (11): (a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 28-28-83-05-090 O-RING (11).
(b) Install the new AIPC 28-28-83-05-090 O-RING (11) on the mounting flange (7).
(5) Install the mounting flange (7) on the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1) as follows:
(a) Install the V-clamp (10) on the mounting flange (7).
(b) Close the V-clamp (10) and tighten the screw (9).
CAUTION:
DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
(c) TORQUE the screw (9) to between 0.11 and 0.10 m.daN (9.73 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(d) Safety the screw (9) with (6) Put the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1) in position. Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves.
(7) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of the studs (6).
(8) Install the bonding strap (3) on the mounting flange (7) with the screw (5), the washer (4) and the nut (2).
(9) TORQUE the nuts (2) to between 3.22 and 2.69 m.daN (23.75 and 19.84 lbf.ft )
. (10) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(11) Install the nuts (8).
(12) TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in )
. CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(13) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.(14) Connect the electrical connectors (12) to the ACT isolation-valve actuator (1).
B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).

A. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Close Access
(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
