Installation of the ACT Vent Valve
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 28-28-62-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
(7) Make sure that the fuel center tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(8) Make sure that the right Main Landing Gear (MLG) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(9) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the right MLG door.
(10) Make sure that the ACT vent-valve actuator is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-72-000-001).
(11) Make sure that access cover 147AZ is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
(12) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the connections between the vent valve (5) and the flanges (2) and (7).
Subtask 28-28-62-865-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
- On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
- On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
- On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
(7) Make sure that the fuel center tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(8) Make sure that the right Main Landing Gear (MLG) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(9) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the right MLG door.
(10) Make sure that the ACT vent-valve actuator is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-72-000-001).
(11) Make sure that access cover 147AZ is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
(12) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the connections between the vent valve (5) and the flanges (2) and (7).
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Installation of the Vent Valve
(1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(2) Apply the Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the shaft end of the vent valve (5).
(3) Put the vent valve (5) in the position and install the nuts (16) on the studs (15):
(a) Make sure that the vent valve (5) is in the closed position.
(4) TORQUE the nuts (16) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(5) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on the new AIPC 28-28-85-41-200 O-RINGS (4).
(6) Install the O-rings (4) on the vent valve (5).
(7) Install the flange (7) on the vent valve (5) with the screws (8) and the nuts (13).
(8) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(9) Install the flange (2) on the vent valve (5) with the screws (20) and the nuts (14).
(10) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(11) Install the bonding strap (18) on the flange (2) with the screw (1) and the nut (3).
(12) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(13) Install the bonding straps (12) and (18) on the vent valve (5) with the screw (19) and the nut (17).
(14) TORQUE the nut (17) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(15) Install the bonding straps (10), (11) and (12) on the flange (7) with the screw (9) and the nut (6).
(16) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(17) Install the bonding strap (22) on the vent valve (5) with the screw (21) and the nut (23).
(18) TORQUE the nut (23) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(19) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-28-62-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 28-28-62-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.

(3) Put the vent valve (5) in the position and install the nuts (16) on the studs (15):

(4) TORQUE the nuts (16) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (5) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on the new AIPC 28-28-85-41-200 O-RINGS (4).
(6) Install the O-rings (4) on the vent valve (5).
(7) Install the flange (7) on the vent valve (5) with the screws (8) and the nuts (13).
(8) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (9) Install the flange (2) on the vent valve (5) with the screws (20) and the nuts (14).
(10) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (11) Install the bonding strap (18) on the flange (2) with the screw (1) and the nut (3).
(12) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (13) Install the bonding straps (12) and (18) on the vent valve (5) with the screw (19) and the nut (17).
(14) TORQUE the nut (17) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (15) Install the bonding straps (10), (11) and (12) on the flange (7) with the screw (9) and the nut (6).
(16) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (17) Install the bonding strap (22) on the vent valve (5) with the screw (21) and the nut (23).
(18) TORQUE the nut (23) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (19) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the ACT.
(2) Install access cover 147AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).

E. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).

F. Leak Test
(1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the vent valve (5) and the connections between the flanges (2) and (7).

A. Removal of Equipment
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the container.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Close Access
(1) Close the right MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(1) Close the right MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
