Installation of the ACT Isolation Valve

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-61-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
   (4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
  • On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
  • On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
  • On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
  • On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (6) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the MLG doors.
   (7) Make sure that the fuel center tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (8) Make sure that the left MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (9) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the left MLG door.
   (10) Make sure that the ACT isolation-valve actuator is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-71-000-001).
   (11) Make sure that access cover 148AZ or/and the ACT equipment support-door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
   (12) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the isolation valve.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-61-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ACT Isolation Valve
   (1) Put the nuts (8) and (13) in position on the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (2) Install the new AIPC 28-28-85-31-150 RETAINING RING (7) and the new AIPC 28-28-85-31-260 RETAINING RING (14) in the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (3) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.
03JBA1) on the new AIPC 28-28-85-31-060 O-RING (2), the new AIPC 28-28-85-31-060 O-RING (15) and the new AIPC 28-28-85-15-020 O-RING (5).
   (4) Install the new
AIPC 28-28-85-31-060 O-RING (2) and the new AIPC 28-28-85-31-060 O-RING (15) on the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (5) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.
03JBA1) on the shaft end of the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the heads of the screws (1).
   (7) Install the half coupling (3) on the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (8) Install the ACT isolation valve (9) on the lines (4) and (16). Make sure that the ACT isolation valve (9) is in the close position.
NOTE: The play at the connections between the lines (4) and (16) will help you to connect the line to the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (9) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (10) Install a new AIPC 28-28-85-15-020 O-RING (5) in the groove of the ACT isolation valve (9).
   (11) Install the screws (1).
   (12) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
   (13) Tighten the nuts (8) and (13).
   (14) Connect the bonding strap (6) and install the bolt (10), the washer (11) and the nut (12).
   (15) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 0.17 and 0.13 m.daN (15.04 and 11.50 lbf.in )
T.
   (16) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-28-61-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Install the ACT Isolation-Valve Actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-71-400-001).
Subtask 28-28-61-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the ACT.
   (2) Install access cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
Subtask 28-28-61-650-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Refuel, defuel or transfer the fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
Subtask 28-28-61-710-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Leak Test
   (1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the ACT isolation valve (9) and at the connections between the lines (4) and (16).
5. Close-up

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the container.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
