Installation of the ACT Transfer-Valve Actuator

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-53-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system, you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
   (4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
  • On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
  • On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
  • On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
  • On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (6) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the main gear doors.
   (7) Make sure that the left MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (8) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the left MLG door.
   (9) Make sure that the protective cover of the ACT equipment support-door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
   (10) Make sure that a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is in position below the actuator (1).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-53-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ACT Transfer-Valve Actuator
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
NOTE: A locating pin is installed on the mounting flange for the correct installation of the actuator (1).
   (4) Install the O-ring (2) as follows:
     (a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to a new AIPC 28-28-03-03-090 O-RING (2) or AIPC 28-28-83-03-080 O-RING (2).
     (b) Install the new O-ring (2) on the mounting flange (7).
   (5) Install the actuator (1) on the mounting flange (7) as follows:
     (a) Put the actuator (1) in position:
       1 Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves
     (b) Install the V-clamp (3) on the base of the actuator (1) and on the mounting flange (7).
     (c) Close the V-clamp (3) and tighten the screw (10) of the V-clamp (3) to secure the actuator (1).
CAUTION: DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
     (d) TORQUE the screw (10) to between 11 and 9 lbf.in (0.12 and 0.10 m.daN )

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (e) Safety the screw (10) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (6) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) to the studs.
   (7) Install the nuts (6).
   (8) TORQUE the nuts (6) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T.
   (9) Install the bonding strap (4) on the mounting flange (7) with the screw (5), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
   (10) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (11) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (12) Connect the electrical connectors (11) to the actuator (1).
   (13) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-28-53-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ACT Transfer-Valve Actuator
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
NOTE: A locating pin is installed on the mounting flange for the correct installation of the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1).
   (4) Install the new AIPC 28-28-83-03-080 O-RING (2):
     (a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.
01ABA1) to a new AIPC 28-28-83-03-080 O-RING (2).
     (b) Install the new
AIPC 28-28-83-03-080 O-RING (2) on the mounting flange (7).
   (5) Install the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1) on the mounting flange (7) as follows:
     (a) Put the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1) in position. Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves.
     (b) Install the V-clamp (3) on the base of the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1) and on the mounting flange (7).
     (c) Close the V-clamp (3) and tighten the screw (10) to secure the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1).
CAUTION: DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
     (d) TORQUE the screw (10) to between 0.11 and 0.10 m.daN (9.73 and 8.85 lbf.in )

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (e) Safety the screw (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (6) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) to the studs.
   (7) Install the four nuts (6).
   (8) TORQUE the nuts (6) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T.
   (9) Install the bonding strap (4) on the mounting flange (7) with the screw (5), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
   (10) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 0.17 and 0.13 m.daN (15.04 and 11.50 lbf.in )

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (11) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (12) Connect the electrical connectors (11) to the ACT transfer-valve actuator (1).
   (13) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the container.
   (2) Install the protective cover of the ACT-Equipment Support Door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-003).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Close Access
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
