Removal of the ACT Fuel-Transfer Pump-Element

IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
WARNING:
DO NOT GET YOUR CLOTHES SOAKED WITH FUEL.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE CORRECT FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
Subtask 28-28-51-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(3) On the FUEL section of HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
(6) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the Main Landing Gear (MLG) doors.
Subtask 28-28-51-865-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(3) On the FUEL section of HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
- On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the ENG/APU FIRE panel located on overhead panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system.
- On Additional Center Tank (ACT) control panel 28VU, to tell persons not to operate the ACT transfer system.
(6) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the Main Landing Gear (MLG) doors.

D. Get Access
(1) Open left MLG door 734 to get access to the ACT fuel-transfer pump-element (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at left MLG door 734.
(3) Remove the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
4. Procedure(1) Open left MLG door 734 to get access to the ACT fuel-transfer pump-element (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at left MLG door 734.
(3) Remove the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
Subtask 28-28-51-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Pump Element
(1) Disconnect the electrical connector (4).
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Cut and remove the lockwire from the bolts (6).
(4) Remove the four bolts (6) and the two mounting bars (5).
(5) Turn the limit stop (8) to put the pump (7) against the limit stop (8).
(6) Let the fuel drain in the container and turn the limit stop (8). Pull and remove the pump (7) from the canister.
(7) Remove and discard the O-rings (1), (2) and (3).
(8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 28-28-51-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (4).
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Cut and remove the lockwire from the bolts (6).
(4) Remove the four bolts (6) and the two mounting bars (5).
(5) Turn the limit stop (8) to put the pump (7) against the limit stop (8).
(6) Let the fuel drain in the container and turn the limit stop (8). Pull and remove the pump (7) from the canister.
(7) Remove and discard the O-rings (1), (2) and (3).
(8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
A. Removal of the ACT Fuel-Transfer Pump-Element
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(6) Remove the bolts (8), the washers (7), the mounting bars (9) and the spacers (6).
(7) Turn the limit stop (14) to put the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10) against the limit stop (14).
(8) Let the fuel drain into the container and turn the limit stop (14).
(9) Pull out and carefully remove the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10) from the structure.
(10) Remove and discard the O-rings (11), (12) and (13).
(11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(12) Remove the container and discard the drained fuel.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10).
CAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE COMPONENT DURING THE PROCEDURE. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO COMPONENT.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10). (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
(4) Remove the nut (4), the bolt (1) and the washer (2) and disconnect the bonding strap (3) from the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10). WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(5) Remove and discard the lockwires from the bolts (8). (6) Remove the bolts (8), the washers (7), the mounting bars (9) and the spacers (6).
(7) Turn the limit stop (14) to put the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10) against the limit stop (14).
(8) Let the fuel drain into the container and turn the limit stop (14).
(9) Pull out and carefully remove the ACT fuel-transfer pump (10) from the structure.
(10) Remove and discard the O-rings (11), (12) and (13).
(11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(12) Remove the container and discard the drained fuel.
