3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-37-860-061-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are on control panels that follow, to tell persons not to operate the refuel/defuel system:
  • Refuel/defuel control panels 800VU and 801VU
  • Fuel control panel 40VU
  • Additional Center Tank (ACT) control panel 28VU.
   (4) Make sure that aft cargo-compartment door 826 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is below aft cargo-compartment door 826.
   (6) Make sure that CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU is in the ON position.
   (7) Make sure that the ACT AFT2 is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-000-003).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-37-420-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Check Valve
F Air Inlet Check Valve ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 28-12-84-12-040 O-RING (2) and new AIPC 28-12-84-12-040 O-RING (3).
   (5) Put the O-rings (2) and (3) in position on the check valve (4).
   (6) Prepare equipment for electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (7) Install the check valve (4) in the receptacle (1):
     (a) Make sure that the O-rings (2) and (3) stay in the grooves of the check valve (4) while the check valve (4) is installed in the receptacle (1).
   (8) Install the washers (5) and (10) and the bolts (6) and (9) on the check valve (4).
   (9) Apply surface protection on the bonding bolt (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (10) TORQUE the bolts (6) and (9) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT EQUIPMENT FROM FLEXIBLE HOSES AND RIGID TUBING. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOSES AND TUBES.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLEXIBLE HOSES ARE NOT TWISTED OR PULLED TIGHT. IF THE HOSES ARE TWISTED OR PULLED TIGHT, THE CONNECTIONS WILL BREAK AND CAUSE A LEAK.
   (11) Install the hose (7) on the check valve (4) and install the union nut (8).
   (12) TORQUE the union nut (8) to between 43 and 39 m.N (31.71 and 28.76 lbf.ft )

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, install the ACT AFT2 (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-400-003).
   (3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to the OFF position.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Close aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
Subtask 28-28-37-860-062-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) On refuel/defuel control panels 800VU and 801VU, on fuel control panel 40VU and on ACT fuel control panel 28VU:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
