3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-00-860-230-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (3) Make sure that the fuel is removed from the ACT(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on these panels, to tell persons not to operate the refuel/defuel system:
  • the refuel/defuel panel 800VU 801VU,
  • the fuel panel 40VU,

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the right main gear door for access to the drain line of the ACT (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Remove the right Integrated Impact Wall from the aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-001), for access to the check valve (177QM).
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, remove the cargo-ceiling panel 151BC (Ref. AMM D/O 25-55-11-00), for access to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).
Subtask 28-28-00-010-118-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Get Access
   (1) Open the right main gear door for access to the drain line of the ACT(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Remove the right Integrated Impact Wall from the aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-001), for access to the check valve (177QM2) of the ACT2.
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, remove the cargo-ceiling panel 151BC (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002), for access to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).

C. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-00-480-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the test equipment.
   (1) In the right main gear bay, connect the test tool equipment to the drain line of the ACT:
     (a) Loosen the coupling nuts (6) and remove the elbow pipe (7) from the drain line.
     (b) Connect a regulated GENERATOR - GROUND PRESSURE MINI. 100 MB with a shut-off valves to the line end connection of the drain line.
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the opening of the other drain line connection.
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the ACT, disconnect the pressure hose from the check valve (177QM) of the ACT:
     (a) Loosen the coupling nut (4) and disconnect the pressure hose (3) from check valve (5).
     (b) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the open line end connection of the of the pressure hose (3).
NOTE: The line end connection of the check valve must be open for the test.
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, connect the 99D28108418000 ACT VALVE CONTROL BOX to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH):
NOTE: This tool is necessary to close the vent valve of the ACT for the test.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (3QH-A) from the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).
     (b) Connect one plug of the CONTROL BOX-VALVE to the electrical connector (3QH-A).
     (c) Connect the other plug of the CONTROL BOX-VALVE to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).

B. Test
   (1) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the CONTROL BOX-VALVE:
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
  • USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
  • DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.
LOOSE PARTICLES AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY.
     (a) Put the switch of the Vent-Valves to the SHUT position.
NOTE: It is not necessary to operate the Air Shut-Off Valve for the test.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the regulated air source, at the drain line:
  • start the regulated air source,
  • carefully set the regulated air source to a maximum of 0.1 bar (1.4504 psi), to get sufficient air flow for the test.
NOTE: Be careful when you pressurize the cavity of the ACT. If the air pressure becomes too high, then the rubber bladder of the ACT can be damage.

  • stop the pressurization each time after 10 seconds and start it again.

  • stop the pressurization at approximately 0.1 bar (1.4504 psi).
On the pressure gage, at the drain line:
  • make sure that the air pressure is approximately 0.1 bar (1.4504 psi).
2.In the aft cargo-compartment, on the check valve (177QM) of the ACT:
  • apply air leak detector-spray on the line end connection of the check valve.
On the line end connection of the check valve (177QM):
  • make sure that the check valve has no leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
3.On the regulated air source, at the drain line:
  • stop the regulated air source and release the air pressure.
On the pressure gage, at the drain line:
  • the air pressure decreases to 0 bar (0.0000 psi).
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the CONTROL BOX-VALVE:
     (a) Put the switch of the Vent-Valves to the OPEN position.

C. Remove the test equipment.
   (1) In the right main gear bay, on the drain line of the ACT:
     (a) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
     (b) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (c) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (e) Connect the elbow pipe (7) to the drain line and tighten the coupling nuts (6).
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the cargo ceiling:
     (a) Disconnect the CONTROL BOX-VALVE from the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH):
     (b) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (3QH-A) to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the check valve (177QM) of the ACT:
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) Connect the pressure hose (3) to the check valve (5) and tighten the coupling nut (4).
NOTE: Make sure that you do not twist the hose when you tighten coupling nut.
Subtask 28-28-00-480-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Install the test equipment.
   (1) In the right main gear bay, connect the test tool equipment to the drain line of the ACT:
     (a) Loosen the coupling nuts (6) and remove the elbow pipe (7) from the drain line.
     (b) Connect a regulated GENERATOR - GROUND PRESSURE MINI. 100 MB with a shut-off valves to the line end connection of the drain line.
     (c) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the opening of the other drain line connection.
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the ACT2, disconnect the pressure hose from the check valve (177QM2) of the ACT2:
     (a) Loosen the coupling nut (4) and disconnect the pressure hose (3) from the check valve (5).
NOTE: Do not install blanking plugs on the line end connections of the check valve and the pressure hose. These line end connections must be open for the test.
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, connect the 99D28108418000 ACT VALVE CONTROL BOX to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH):
NOTE: This tool is necessary to close the vent valves of the ACT(s) for the test.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (3QH-A) from the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).
     (b) Connect one plug of the CONTROL BOX-VALVE to the electrical connector (3QH-A).
     (c) Connect the other plug of the CONTROL BOX-VALVE to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).

E. Test
   (1) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the CONTROL BOX-VALVE:
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:

  • DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.

  • apply air leak detector-spray on the open line end connection of the pressure tube.
On the open line end connection of the pressure tube:
  • make sure that there are no leaks.
NOTE: The leak check on the pressure tube is the functional test of the ACT1 check valve (177QM1). Leaks are not permitted.
3.On the regulated air source, at the drain line:
  • stop the regulated air source and release the air pressure.
On the pressure gage, at the drain line:
  • the air pressure decreases to 0 bar (0.0000 psi).
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the CONTROL BOX-VALVE:
     (a) Put the switch of the Vent-Valves to the OPEN position.

F. Remove the test equipment.
   (1) In the right main gear bay, on the drain line of the ACT:
     (a) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

     (c) Connect the electrical connector (3QH-A) to the Air Shut-Off Valve Actuator (3QH).
   (3) In the aft cargo-compartment, on the check valve (177QM2) of the ACT2:
     (a) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Connect the pressure hose (3) to the check valve (5) and tighten the coupling nut (4).
NOTE: Make sure that you do not twist the hose when you tighten coupling nut.
5. Close-up

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the right main gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (2) In the aft cargo-compartment, install the cargo-ceiling panel 151BC, (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-002).
   (3) Install the right Integrated Impact Wall in the aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-400-001).
Subtask 28-28-00-860-231-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
