3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-00-860-129-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) Open the applicable REFUEL panel 192MB, 522KB and 622KB.
Subtask 28-28-00-650-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Defuel Procedure
   (1) Drain the accumulated water from the ACT in accordance with the standard daily task cycle all the fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-28-281-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-28-281-001).
NOTE: When possible, Airbus recommends to perform a water drainage of ACT(s) not used in operation at an interval of 7 days.
   (2) If necessary, defuel the center tank sufficiently to accept the additional fuel from the ACT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (3) If necessary, transfer all the fuel from the ACT to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-00-620-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for the Biocide Treatment of the ACT Bladder Tank
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Make sure that sufficient quantity of the biocide Antimicrobial Agent-Fuel System Liquid Additive - (Material No.11KBB1) is available for this task.
NOTE: The ACT(s) to be filled with the fuel (pre-mixed with the biocide) until the ACT(s) are at minimum of 10% in the refuel procedure.
   (2) If you use biocide, it is mandatory to use the calibrated METERING EQUIPMENT - BIOCIDE,FLIGHTLINE FUEL ADD.INC. (compliant to EI1566) to mix the biocide into fuel tanks. This is to make sure that the biocide is mixed correctly with the fuel.
   (3) If the engines are fed with biocide concentrations more than the limits permitted by the engine manufacturer, there is a high risk of unstable operation of the engines.
   (4) No other method of dosing of biocide is permitted by Airbus. If a Metered Injection Rig (EI1566) is not available, you must use the non-biocide process.
   (5) Do a check for biocide that was used in last 30 refuellings.
   (6) To avoid the interaction of different biocides:
     (a) You must use the same biocide that is used in last 30 refuellings (prevents the formation of precipitates).
     (b) Airbus recommends to use a separate injection unit for Biobor and Kathon (prevents the risk of crystal formation).
Subtask 28-28-00-650-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Biocide Treatment of the ACT(s)
NOTE: Two different concentration of biocide are available for two different materials (biobor and kathon).
   (1) Mix the fuel with the applicable concentration of biocide Antimicrobial Agent-Fuel System Liquid Additive - (Material No.11KBB1) :
  • For the material biobor, with a oncentration of 100ml of biobor per 1000 liters of fuel
    or
  • For the material kathon, with a concentration of 50ml of kathon per 1000 liters of fuel:
     (a) To mix the fuel with the applicable concentration of biobor biocide (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-600-020).
     (b) To mix the fuel with the applicable concentration of kathon biocide (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-600-023).
   (2) Refuel the ACT(s) with the mixed fuel until the ACT(s) are full (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
NOTE: There is no specified time to soak the mixed fuel in the ACT(s).
   (3) Transfer the mixed fuel from the ACT(s) to the center tank until the ACT(s) is (are) empty (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (4) The ACT(s) must have a minimum of 50 l (13 USgal) of fuel to make sure that the bladder tank of the ACT is not dry.
Subtask 28-28-00-650-053-CJ ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Biocide Treatment of the ACT(s)
   (1) Mix the fuel with biocide Antimicrobial Agent-Fuel System Liquid Additive - (Material No.11KBB1) , with a concentration of 100 ml of biobor per 1000 liters of fuel for the biobor material:
     (a) To mix the fuel with the applicable concentration of biocide (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-600-020).
   (2) Refuel the ACT(s) with the mixed fuel until the ACT(s) are full (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
NOTE: There is no specified time to soak the mixed fuel in the ACT(s).
   (3) Transfer the mixed fuel from the ACT(s) to the center tank until the ACT(s) are empty (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (4) The ACT(s) must have a minimum of 50 l (13 USgal) of fuel to make sure that the bladder tank of the ACT is not dry.
Subtask 28-28-00-550-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Operation of the Aircraft with an empty ACT for a longer time period than 60 days
   (1) Do the subsequent procedure if the ACT was not refueled in a time period of less than 60 days:
     (a) Do the work steps for the preparation of biocide treatment of the ACT bladder tank again.
     (b) Refuel the ACT, pre-mixed with biocide, until the ACT is full (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
     (c) Transfer the biocide/fuel mixture from the ACT to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
     (d) Make sure that a minimum of 5 to 10% of unused fuel stays in the ACT.
