(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Safety the electrical connectors (3) and (4) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
(4) Do a visual inspection on the indicator of the ACT transfer-valve actuator (2) to identify the position of the valve:
(6) Loosen the screw (5) and remove the V-clamp (6) and the ACT transfer-valve actuator (2).
(7) Remove the O-ring (7) and discard it:
(a) Turn the shaft of the ACT fuel-transfer valve (1) to the closed position if necessary.
(b) Install the T720456 TOOL - VALVE LOCKING on the flange of the ACT fuel-transfer valve (1) to lock it in the closed position.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of the HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, make sure that all tank pump pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:

(2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of the HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, make sure that all tank pump pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
- On the FUEL section of the panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the ENG/APU FIRE panel located on the overhead panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
- On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) control section of panel 28VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Open the left Main Gear Door for Access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position in the left MLG bay.
(3) Remove the Protective Cover from the ACT-Equipment Support Door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
Subtask 28-28-00-010-102-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the left Main Gear Door for Access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position in the left MLG bay.
(3) Remove the Protective Cover from the ACT-Equipment Support Door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the left main-gear door for access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position in the left MLG bay.
(3) Remove the ACT equipment-support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Open the left main-gear door for access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position in the left MLG bay.
(3) Remove the ACT equipment-support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
Subtask 28-28-00-040-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Deactivation of the ACT Transfer Valve in Valve Closed Position
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Safety the electrical connectors (4) and (11) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
(4) Remove the nut (8), the bolt (5) and the bonding strap (6) from the actuator (3).
(5) Do a visual check on the indicator of the Transfer Valve Actuator, to identify the position of the valve:
(a) Turn the shaft of the ACT Fuel Transfer Valve to the closed position if necessary.
(b) Install the T720456 TOOL - VALVE LOCKING on the flange of the ACT transfer valve to lock it in the closed position.
Subtask 28-28-00-040-066-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: A refuel of the ACT is not possible while ACT Transfer Valve inoperative in valve position CLOSED.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) and (11) from the receptacles of the ACT transfer valve actuator (3). (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Safety the electrical connectors (4) and (11) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
(4) Remove the nut (8), the bolt (5) and the bonding strap (6) from the actuator (3).
(5) Do a visual check on the indicator of the Transfer Valve Actuator, to identify the position of the valve:
- indicator in horizontal position, the transfer valve is OPEN,
- indicator in vertical position, the transfer valve is CLOSED.
(a) Turn the shaft of the ACT Fuel Transfer Valve to the closed position if necessary.
(b) Install the T720456 TOOL - VALVE LOCKING on the flange of the ACT transfer valve to lock it in the closed position.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
A. Deactivation of the ACT Fuel-Transfer Valve in Valve Closed Position NOTE: A refuel of the ACT is not possible while ACT fuel-transfer valve is OFF in valve position CLOSED.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) and (4) from the receptacles of the ACT transfer-valve actuator (2). (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Safety the electrical connectors (3) and (4) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
(4) Do a visual inspection on the indicator of the ACT transfer-valve actuator (2) to identify the position of the valve:
- Indicator in horizontal position: the transfer valve is OPEN
- Indicator in vertical position: the transfer valve is CLOSED.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the screw (5). (6) Loosen the screw (5) and remove the V-clamp (6) and the ACT transfer-valve actuator (2).
(7) Remove the O-ring (7) and discard it:
(a) Turn the shaft of the ACT fuel-transfer valve (1) to the closed position if necessary.
(b) Install the T720456 TOOL - VALVE LOCKING on the flange of the ACT fuel-transfer valve (1) to lock it in the closed position.

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Install the Protective Cover on the ACT-Equipment Support Door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-003).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the Main Gear Doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(7) In the cockpit, put a placard in position to tell the crew that the ACT Transfer Valve is inoperative in valve position CLOSED.
(8) On the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel 801VU, put a placard in position to tell the ground crew: DO NOT REFUEL THE ACT(s).
(9) Make an entry in the logbook.
Subtask 28-28-00-860-201-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the Protective Cover on the ACT-Equipment Support Door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-003).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the Main Gear Doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(7) In the cockpit, put a placard in position to tell the crew that the ACT Transfer Valve is inoperative in valve position CLOSED.
(8) On the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel 801VU, put a placard in position to tell the ground crew: DO NOT REFUEL THE ACT(s).
(9) Make an entry in the logbook.
B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Install the ACT equipment-support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(7) In the cockpit, put a placard in position to tell the crew that the ACT fuel-transfer valve is OFF in valve position CLOSED.
(8) On refuel/defuel control panel 801VU, put a placard in position to tell the ground crew: DO NOT REFUEL THE ACT(s).
(9) Make an entry in the logbook.
(1) Install the ACT equipment-support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(7) In the cockpit, put a placard in position to tell the crew that the ACT fuel-transfer valve is OFF in valve position CLOSED.
(8) On refuel/defuel control panel 801VU, put a placard in position to tell the ground crew: DO NOT REFUEL THE ACT(s).
(9) Make an entry in the logbook.
Fuel Transfer Valve 165QM
