A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch.
  • On the refuel/defuel control panel 801VU.
  • On the FUEL section of the panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
  • On the ENG/APU FIRE panel located on the overhead panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the aft cargo door opening.
   (3) Loosen the quick-release fasteners to remove the right Integrated Impact Wall (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the aft cargo door opening.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-00-040-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Vent Valve Inoperative in the Open Position
NOTE: The Vent Valve can stay in the open position and inoperative when you do the subsequent procedure.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (23) from the receptacle (24) of the vent valve actuator (25).
   (2) Install a BRIDGE-WIRE (shunt) on the electrical connector (23) between the pins A and C.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Safety the electrical connector (23) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
   (5) Do a visual check of the see/feel indicator of the Vent Valve Actuator to identify the position of the valve:
  • see/feel indicator aligned, the Vent Valve is OPEN,
  • see/feel indicator across, the Vent Valve is CLOSED.
   (6) Loosen the screw (27) and disconnect the V-clamp (26) from the V-flange of the Vent Valve (28).
   (7) Remove the Vent Valve Actuator (25) from the Vent Valve (28).
   (8) Manually turn the input shaft (31) of the Vent Valve (28) to the open position.
   (9) Install the T720521 TOOL-VALVE LOCKING on the V-flange of the Vent Valve (28) with V-clamp (26) to lock it in the open position.
Subtask 28-28-00-040-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Vent Valve Inoperative in the Open Position
NOTE: The subsequent procedure is the same for each ACT. Therefore only one procedure is given. Differences between each ACT are given where applicable.
NOTE: The Vent Valve can stay in the open position and inoperative when you do the subsequent procedure.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (23) from the receptacle (24) of the Vent Valve Actuator (25).
   (2) Install a BRIDGE-WIRE (shunt) on the electrical connector (23) between the pins A and C.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Safety the electrical connector (23) to the adjacent electrical harness with a TIE WRAP(S).
   (5) Do a visual check of the see/feel indicator of the Vent Valve Actuator to identify the position of the valve:
  • see/feel indicator aligned, the Vent Valve is OPEN,
  • see/feel indicator across, the Vent Valve is CLOSED.
   (6) Loosen the screw (27) and disconnect the V-clamp (26) from the V-flange of the Vent Valve (28).
   (7) Remove the Vent Valve Actuator (25) from the Vent Valve (28).
   (8) Manually turn the input shaft (31) of the Vent Valve (28) to the open position.
   (9) Install the T720521 TOOL-VALVE LOCKING on the V-flange of the Vent Valve (28) with V-clamp (26) to lock it in the open position.
5. Close-up

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the Integrated Impact Wall (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-400-001).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (5) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (7) Make an entry in the logbook.
Subtask 28-28-00-860-080-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the access panel in the ceiling of the cargo compartment.
   (3) Install the cabin floor panel 252BG (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-12-400-001).
   (4) Install the right Integrated Impact Wall (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-400-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (7) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (9) Make an entry in the logbook.
