A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear doors.

B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001):
  • for the LH wing, open the door 734
  • for the RH wing, open the door 744.
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE below the applicable access panel:
  • for the LH wing, below the panel 147AZ
  • for the RH wing, below the panel 148AZ
   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable access panel:
  • for the LH wing, below the panel 540AB
  • for the RH wing, below the panel 640AB.
   (5) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001):
   (6) Safety open the applicable spring-loaded surge-doors with the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS):
  • for the LH wing, safety open the door 540BZ
  • for the RH wing, safety open the door 640BZ.
   (7) If necessary, remove the applicable Fuel Quantity Indicating (FQI) probe (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-15-000-005):
  • for the LH wing, remove the FQI probe 54QT1
  • for the RH wing, remove the FQI probe 54QT2.
   (8) Remove fuel pipes, as necessary, to get access to the applicable clack valve (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).
Subtask 28-26-44-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Get Access
   (1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001):
  • for the LH wing, open the door 734
  • for the RH wing, open the door 744.
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE below the access panel 148AZ.
   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable access panel:
  • for the LH wing, below the panel 540AB
  • for the RH wing, below the panel 640AB.
   (5) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001):
  • for the LH wing, remove the panel 540AB
   (6) Safety open the applicable spring-loaded surge-doors with the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS):
  • for the LH wing, safety open the door 540BZ
  • for the RH wing, safety open the door 640BZ.
   (7) If necessary, remove the applicable Fuel Quantity Indicating (FQI) probe (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-15-000-005):
  • for the LH wing, remove the FQI probe 54QT1
  • for the RH wing, remove the FQI probe 54QT2.
   (8) Remove fuel pipes, as necessary, to get access to the applicable clack valve (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-26-44-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Main-Transfer-System Clack Valve
   (1) Remove the nut (17). Remove the bolt (28), the washer (18), the bonding strap (15) and the washer (19). Remove the washer (27) from the bolt (28).
   (2) Remove the nuts (20) and the bolts (25).
   (3) Remove the shroud assembly (16).
   (4) Remove the spindle (12), the distance tubes (14) and (21) and the clack valve assembly (13).
   (5) Remove the nuts (22), the bolts (26) and the washers (23).
   (6) Remove the seating (11).
   (7) Remove and discard the O-ring (10).
   (8) Remove the nuts (9), the bolts (5) and the washers (6) and (8).
   (9) Remove the adaptor (24).
   (10) Remove and discard the O-ring (7).
   (11) Release the nut (2).
   (12) Remove the split ring (3) and the nut (2) from the flanged pipe (30).
   (13) Remove the flanged pipe (30).
   (14) Remove and discard the O-rings (4) and (29).
   (15) Install a CAP - BLANKING in the open end of the pipe (1).
