WARNING: THIS PROCEDURE USES A FUEL SYSTEM ITEM THAT IS IN A CATEGORY KNOWN AS A CRITICAL DESIGN CONFIGURATION CONTROL LIMITATION (CDCCL). CDCCL IDENTIFIES AN ITEM THAT CAN BE THE SOURCE OF A POSSIBLE FUEL TANK IGNITION. YOU MUST KEEP ALL CDCCL ITEMS IN THE APPROVED CONFIGURATION. A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is (are) in position.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the MLG doors.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the center tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (3) Make sure that the LH MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is installed on the LH MLG door actuating-cylinder.
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at zone 148.
   (6) Make sure that the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
   (7) Make sure that the refuel valve 41QU has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-51-000-004).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-25-52-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Lubricate the new parts that follow with Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) :
  • The O-ring (11)
  • The O-ring (13)
  • The O-ring (15).
   (3) Install the AIPC 28-28-05-02-020 ORING (13) or AIPC 28-28-85-02-020 ORING (13) in the groove on the face of the refuel valve canister (12).

B. Installation of the Refuel Valve Canister 164QM
   (1) Install the refuel valve canister (12) in position.
   (2) Install the screws (14).
   (3) Bonding check:
WARNING: THIS INSTRUCTION IS APPLICABLE TO A CRITICAL DESIGN CONFIGURATION CONTROL LIMITATION (CDCCL) ITEM. CAREFULLY OBEY ALL GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU DO THIS STEP. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, A DANGEROUS CONDITION CAN OCCUR THAT CAN CAUSE A POSSIBLE FUEL TANK EXPLOSION.
     (a) Do a bonding check of screws (14) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (4) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line ends.
   (5) Install the AIPC 28-25-05-02-230 O-RING (15) or AIPC 28-25-85-02-040 O-RING (15) in the groove in the adaptor (2).
   (6) Connect the adaptor (2) to the refuel valve canister (12) with the bolts (1) and the washers (16).
   (7) Install the
AIPC 28-25-05-02-230 O-RING (11) or AIPC 28-25-85-02-040 O-RING (11) in the groove in the elbow (10).
   (8) Connect the elbow (10) to the refuel valve canister (12) with the bolts (8) and the washers (9).
   (9) Put the bonding straps (3) and (4) in position on the refuel valve canister (12).
   (10) Install the screw (5), the washer (6) and the nut (7) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (11) Make sure that the bonding straps (3) and (4) are correctly bonded:
     (a) Do a bonding check between the bonding straps (3) and (4) and the canister (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802). The bonding resistance must be less than 10 milliohms.

B. Installation of Refuel Valve Canister 164QM
   (1) Install the refuel valve canister (12) in position.
   (2) Install and tighten the screws (14).
   (3) Bonding check:
WARNING: THIS INSTRUCTION IS APPLICABLE TO A CRITICAL DESIGN CONFIGURATION CONTROL LIMITATION (CDCCL) ITEM. CAREFULLY OBEY ALL GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU DO THIS STEP. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, A DANGEROUS CONDITION CAN OCCUR THAT CAN CAUSE A POSSIBLE FUEL TANK EXPLOSION.
     (a) Do a bonding check of the screws (14) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (5) Install the new AIPC 28-28-85-13-050 RESTRICTOR (16) or AIPC 28-28-85-29-070 RESTRCTR (16) and the new AIPC 28-28-85-13-040 O-RING (15) or AIPC 28-28-85-29-060 ORING (15) in the groove in the adaptor (2).
   (6) Connect the adaptor (2) to the refuel valve canister (12) with the bolts (1) and the washers (17).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (1) opposite to each other to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) Do a bonding check of the bolts (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (9) Install the new AIPC 28-28-85-12-040 O-RING (11) in the groove in the elbow (10).
   (10) Connect the elbow (10) to the refuel valve canister (12) with the bolts (8) and the washers (9).
   (11) TORQUE the bolts (8) opposite to each other to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T.
   (12) Do a bonding check of the bolts (8) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (13) Put the bonding straps (5) and (6) in position on the refuel valve canister (12).
   (14) Install the screw (3), the washer (4) and the nut (7).
   (15) TORQUE the screw (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (16) Make sure that the bonding straps (5) and (6) are correctly bonded:
     (a) Do a bonding check between the bonding straps (5) and (6) and the canister (12) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802). The bonding resistance must be less than 10 milliohms.

   (2) Install the protective cover for the ACT-equipment support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-003).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

E. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Refuel or transfer a minimum of 3000 kg (6614 lb) of fuel into the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
