A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

Subtask 28-25-44-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the applicable access panel 540AB 640AB.
(2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001):
(a) FOR [31QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, L WING TK)
remove 540AB
(b) FOR [32QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, R WING TK)
remove 640AB.
(3) Get access to the fuel drain valve through the applicable rear spring-loaded cover in RIB 2:
(a) FOR [31QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, L WING TK)
through 540BZ
(b) FOR [32QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, R WING TK)
through 640BZ.
(4) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) to keep the spring-loaded cover open.

Subtask 28-25-44-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the applicable access panel 540AB ( 640AB).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
(a) FOR [31QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, L WING TK)
Remove 540AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001)
(b) FOR [32QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, R WING TK)
Remove 640AB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
(3) Remove the applicable RIB2 access panels:
(a) FOR [31QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, L WING TK)
Remove 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002)
(b) FOR [32QM] (VALVE-FUEL DRAIN, R WING TK)
Remove 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-25-44-020-050-A

A. Removal of the Fuel Drain Valve
(1) Remove the fuel drain valve (1).
(2) Remove and discard the O-ring (2).
(3) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
