Installation of the Defuel/Transfer Valve

MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) On the refuel/defuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
(4) Make sure that the main door of the right main gear is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(5) Make sure that the manhole cover 148AZ is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
(6) Make sure that the valve actuator 11QU is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-53-000-001).
4. ProcedureWARNING:
OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Make sure that the right wing and center tanks are defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001). (2) On the refuel/defuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
- the MODE SELECT switch is set to OFF
- the OPEN warning light is off.
(4) Make sure that the main door of the right main gear is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(5) Make sure that the manhole cover 148AZ is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
(6) Make sure that the valve actuator 11QU is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-53-000-001).
Subtask 28-25-43-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Center Tank-Defuel/Transfer-Valve
(1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(2) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on the new AIPC 28-25-05-03-060 O-RINGS (12) and AIPC 28-25-05-03-050 O-RING (21).
(3) Install the new O-ring (21) on the valve (20).
(4) Install the new O-rings (12) on the valve (20).
(5) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the shaft end of the valve (20).
(6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the head of the screws (2).
(7) Install the valve (20) on the pipes (11) and (14) and then on the rear spar (1):
(a) The valve (20) must be in the closed position.
(8) Install the screws (2).
(9) TORQUE the screws (2) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(10) Attach the line (11) to the support (8) with the bolts (9) and the nuts (10).
(11) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(12) Attach the line (14) to the support (18) with the bolts (16) and the nuts (17).
(13) TORQUE the nuts (17) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(14) Hand Tighten the nuts (13).
(15) Connect the bonding strips (4) and (19) with the bolts (3), the washers (5) and the nuts (6).
(16) TORQUE the nuts (6) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(17) Install the valve actuator 11QU (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-53-400-001).
Subtask 28-25-43-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.

(3) Install the new O-ring (21) on the valve (20).
(4) Install the new O-rings (12) on the valve (20).
(5) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the shaft end of the valve (20).
(6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the head of the screws (2).
(7) Install the valve (20) on the pipes (11) and (14) and then on the rear spar (1):
(a) The valve (20) must be in the closed position.
(8) Install the screws (2).
(9) TORQUE the screws (2) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(10) Install the drive assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-43-400-002).
(11) Attach the line (11) to the support (8) with the bolts (9) and the nuts (10).
(12) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(13) Attach the line (14) to the support (18) with the bolts (16) and the nuts (17).

(2) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on the new AIPC 28-25-05-03-050 O-RING (21) or AIPC 28-25-85-03-050 O-RING (21) and AIPC 28-25-05-03-060 O-RINGS (12) or AIPC 28-25-85-03-060 O-RINGS (12).
(3) Install the new O-ring (21) on the valve (20).
(4) Install the new O-rings (12) on the valve (20).
(5) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the shaft end of the valve (20).
(6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the head of the screws (2).
(7) Install the valve (20) on the pipes (11) and (14) and then on the rear spar (1):
(a) The valve (20) must be in the closed position.
(8) Install the screws (2).
(9) TORQUE the screws (2) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (10) Install the drive assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-43-400-002).
(11) Attach the line (11) to the support (8) with the bolts (9) and the nuts (10).
(12) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (13) Attach the line (14) to the support (18) with the bolts (16) and the nuts (17).
(14) TORQUE the nuts (17) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (15) Hand Tighten the nuts (13).
(16) Connect the bonding strips (4) and (19) with the bolts (3), the washers (5) and the nuts (6).

. (18) Install the valve actuator 11QU (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-53-400-001).
C. Do a Check for Leakage
(1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the valve (20).
(2) Remove the container.
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the valve (20).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the center tank.
(2) Install the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Close the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 28-25-43-650-051-A (1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the center tank.
(2) Install the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Close the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
Defuel/Transfer Valve of Center Tank
