D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Open access door 192MB.
   (2) On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
     (a) Put the MODE SELECT switch in the OFF position and lower the guard:
1 Make sure that the DEFUEL/XFR valve is in shut position (light 21QU goes off).
     (b) Put all the REFUEL VALVES switches in the NORM position and lower the guard.
   (3) Close access door 192MB.
NOTE: If the door is operated in battery power, Airbus recommends you not to open the door more than the necessary time. If you keep the door open for a longer time the battery power decreases.

A. Removal of the Refuel/Defuel Coupling-Element Assembly
   (1) Do the steps that follow, if:
  • The check valve in the element assembly is operational
  • The coupling cap is connected to the coupling with a lanyard.
     (a) Remove the coupling cap (8) from the coupling (1).
NOTE: The coupling cap (8) will hang by the lanyard (9) from the shroud ring (5).
     (b) Remove the nut (11) and the screw (10).
     (c) Remove the lanyard (9) from the attachment lug on the shroud ring (5).
     (d) Remove the coupling cap (8) with the lanyard (9).
     (e) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the coupling (1).
     (f) Manually operate the check valve (in the element assembly (4)) to drain the remaining fuel into the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL).
     (g) Remove the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL).
     (h) Discard the drained fuel in the approved area.
     (i) Hold the element assembly (4) and remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6).
     (j) Remove the shroud ring (5), the element assembly (4) and the laminated shim(s) (3).
     (k) Remove and discard the O-ring (2).
   (2) Do the steps that follow, if:
  • The check valve in the element assembly is not operational
  • The coupling cap is connected to the coupling with a lanyard.
     (a) Remove the coupling cap (8) from the coupling (1).
NOTE: The coupling cap (8) will hang by the lanyard (9) from the shroud ring (5).
