A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) You must obey the refuel/defuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-002) when you do work on the refuel/defuel system.
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-25-00-860-092-A
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Energize the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring (ECAM) system (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (3) On the ECAM CP, push (in) the FUEL system page pushbutton switch (P/BSW).

C. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Make sure that there is a minimum of 1000 kg (2205 lb) but not more than 5500 kg (12125 lb) of fuel in each wing.
If it is necessary, refuel the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003)

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the access door 192MB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power, do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below zone 622.
   (2) Open the access door 622KB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power, do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.

Subtask 28-25-00-710-088-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operational Test of the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (800VU)
   (1) Do this test:

On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The HI LVL lights and the DEFUEL XFR OPEN light are on.
On preselector 5QT:
  • The PRESELECTED and ACTUAL displays show all eights.
  • The CKPT and the END lights come on.
1.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the TEST switch to the LTS position and hold it there.
On indicator 6QT:
  • The FUEL QTY display shows all eights.
On refuel/defuel cotrol-panel 800VU:
  • The HI LVL lights and the DEFUEL XFR OPEN light go back to their initial condition.
On preselector 5QT:
  • The CKPT and the END lights go off.
  • The PRESELECTED and ACTUAL displays show the tank quantities.
2.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Release the TEST switch.
On indicator 6QT:
  • The FUEL QTY displays show the tank quantities.
3.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Release (out) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light comes on.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OPEN light comes on.
  • Push (in) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
On the ECAM lower Display-Unit (DU):
  • The crossfeed valve is shown open (in-line green).
4.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT legends come on momentarily.
  • The OFF legends go off.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The LEFT pump display shows that the pumps are on (in-line green).
5.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the REFUEL VALVES switches are in the NORM and guarded position.
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL XFR position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The OPEN light comes on.
6.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
On indicator 6QT:
  • Make sure that the REFUEL VALVES switches are in the NORM and guarded position.

  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display become stable.
  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the NORM position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display remain stable.
  • Set the CTR REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the CTR FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the CTR REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the CTR FUEL QTY display become stable.
  • Set the CTR REFUEL VALVES switch to the NORM position.
  • The numbers on the CTR FUEL QTY display remain stable.
7.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the L TK pumps 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OFF legends come on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The LEFT pump display shows that the pumps are off (cross-line amber).
8.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT legends come on momentarily.
  • The OFF legends go off.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The RIGHT pump display shows that the pumps are on (in-line green).
9.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
On indicator 6QT:
  • Make sure that the REFUEL VALVES switches are in the NORM and guarded position.

  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY display become stable.
  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the NORM position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY remain stable.
10.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF and guarded position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The DEFUEL XFR OPEN light goes off.
11.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the L TK pumps 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OFF legends come on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The RIGHT pump display shows that the pumps are off (cross-line amber).
12.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light goes off.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
  • Release (out) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OPEN light goes off.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The crossfeed valve is shown closed (cross-line).

A. Operational Test of the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (800VU)
NOTE: After you complete the maintenance procedure that follows:
  • There is a risk of surge tank overflow if the MODE SEL (4QL) pushbutton switch stays in the MAN mode.

1.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the TEST switch to the LTS position and hold it there.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The HI LVL lights and the DEFUEL XFR OPEN light are on.
On preselector 5QT:

  • The CKPT and the END lights come on.
On indicator 6QT:
  • The FUEL QTY display shows all eights.
2.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.

6.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
On indicator 6QT:
  • Make sure that the REFUEL VALVES switches are in the NORM and guarded position.

  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display become stable.
  • Set the RIGHT REFUEL VALVES switch to the NORM position.
  • The numbers on the RIGHT FUEL QTY display remain stable.
  • Set the CTR REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the CTR FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the CTR REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the CTR FUEL QTY display become stable.

  • Push (in) the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.

  • The RIGHT pump display shows that the pumps are on (in-line green).
9.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
On indicator 6QT:
  • Make sure that the REFUEL VALVES switches are in the NORM and guarded position.

  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the OPEN position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY display increase.
  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the SHUT position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY display become stable.
  • Set the LEFT REFUEL VALVES switch to the NORM position.
  • The numbers on the LEFT FUEL QTY remain stable.
10.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF and guarded position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The DEFUEL XFR OPEN light goes off.
11.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the L TK pumps 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OFF legends come on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The RIGHT pump display shows that the pumps are off (cross-line amber).
12.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light goes off.
