OPERATIONAL CHECK OF LP SHUT OFF VALVES AND THEIR CONTROLS TO ENSURE NO FLOW WHEN SELECTED CLOSED WITH BOOSTER PUMP ON
NOTE: Two person are necessary to do this task. One person to operate the fuel pumps from the cockpit and one person to monitor the fuel flow.
NOTE: You can also do this task during the engine removal before the task interval.

A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure each wing fuel tank contains a minimum of 1000 kg (2205 lb) of fuel. Refuel if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).
   (2) On overhead panel 20VU, make sure that the ENG 1 and ENG 2 FIRE pushbutton switches (P/BSW) are in the closed and guarded position.
   (3) On engine panel 115VU, make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1 and ENG/MASTER 2 switches are in the OFF position.
   (4) Make sure that there is a WARNING NOTICE(S) on overhead panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the ENG 1 and ENG 2 FIRE pushbutton switches.
   (5) Make sure that there is a WARNING NOTICE(S) on engine panel 115VU, to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MASTER 1 and 2 switches.
   (6) On flaps panel 114VU:
     (a) Install a 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
   (7) On the SD FUEL page, make sure that the crossfeed valve indication shows green cross-line (valve closed).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position adjacent to the applicable pylon.
   (2) Open the engine fan-cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (3) Remove these access panels:
     (a) FOR [12QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1)
522AT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003).
     (b) FOR [13QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 2)
622AT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003).
   (4) Keep the slats in the deployed position.

C. Get Access

   (4) Keep the slats in the deployed position.
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

   (1) Do an operational check of the applicable LP shut-off valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-24-00-710-803):
     (a) Make sure that access panels 522AT ( 622AT) are not installed after this procedure.

   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits

     (a) Push the FUEL pushbutton switch to get the FUEL system page on the ECAM lower display-unit.

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (2).
   (3) Remove the fuel drain plug (2) from the fuel filter.
   (4) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel drain plug (2).
   (5) Drain the fuel into the container.
NOTE: Do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

   (2) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (1).

   (4) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
   (5) Drain the fuel into the container.
NOTE: Do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

I. Drain the remaining fuel from the engine and the pylon fuel hose at the fuel filter as follows:
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) under the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire or safety cable from the fuel drain plug (1).
   (3) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from the fuel filter.
   (4) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
   (5) Drain the fuel into the container.
NOTE: Do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

J. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the aircraft electrical circuits.
   (3) Put a CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the fuel feed-line to collect fuel spillage.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK ON OR NEAR THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FUEL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
   (4) Disconnect the main fuel feed-line at:
   (5) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

K. Drain the remaining fuel from the engine and the pylon fuel hose at the fuel manifold as follows:
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) in position below the fuel manifold.
   (2) Loosen the drain plug bolt (3), turn and remove the fuel drain plug (1).
   (3) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
   (4) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
     (a) Make sure that you do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the aircraft electrical circuits.
   (3) Put a CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the fuel feed-line to collect fuel spillage.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK ON OR NEAR THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FUEL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
   (4) Disconnect the main fuel feed-line at:
   (5) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

M. Do this test for each LP valve 12QM(13QM)
   (1) Do the steps that follow:

1.On the ECAM lower display-unit:

  • Make sure that the LP valve is in the closed position (cross-line).

2.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:

  • The OFF lights go off
  • The FAULT lights come on momentarily.


The fuel feed-line to the LP valve is pressurized.
3.Keep the fuel feed line pressurized for three minutes, then examine these parts for fuel leakage:

  • The main fuel feed-line (3)
  • The LP valve externally.

    Make sure that there are no leaks.

4.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Release (out) L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:

  • L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switch OFF lights come on.
   (2) If you find a fuel leakage, repair the leak:
  • Do this test again.

M. Do this test for each LP valve 12QM(13QM)
   (1) Do the steps that follow:

  • Make sure that the LP valve is in the closed position (cross-line).

2.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Push (in) L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:

  • The OFF lights go off
  • The FAULT lights come on momentarily.


The fuel feed-line to the LP valve is pressurized.
3.Keep the fuel feed line pressurized for three minutes, then examine these parts for fuel leakage:

  • The main fuel feed-line (1) at the fluid disconnect panel
  • The LP valve externally.

    Make sure that there are no leaks.

4.On fuel panel 40VU:

  • Release (out) L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:

  • L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) pushbutton switch OFF lights come on.
   (2) If you find a fuel leakage, repair the leak:
  • Do this test again.

   (1) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (3) Connect the disconnected end of the main fuel-feed line (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-11-400-040).
   (4) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

     (b) Install the packing (1) on the fuel drain plug (2).

     (d) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (2) to between 1.36 and 1.24 m.daN (120.35 and 109.73 lbf.in ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
