WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the APU or bleed air.
Subtask 28-24-00-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003):

     (a) FOR [12QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1)
Remove 522AT.
     (b) FOR [13QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 2)
Remove 622AT.
   (3) Open the applicable fan cowl door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).
   (4) Open the applicable Thrust Reverser (T/R) halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003):

     (a) FOR [12QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1)
Remove 522AT.
     (b) FOR [13QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 2)
Remove 622AT.
   (3) Open the applicable fan cowl door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802).
   (4) Open the applicable Thrust Reverser (T/R) cowl-door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003):

     (a) FOR [12QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1)
Remove 522AT.
     (b) FOR [13QM] (VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 2)
Remove 622AT.
   (3) Open the applicable fan cowl door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (4) Open the applicable Thrust Reverser (T/R) cowl-door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the APU does not operate and there is no bleed air.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) Make sure that you maintain a minimum fuel quantity of 500 kg (1102 lb) in each tank.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-24-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) in position below the fuel manifold.
     (b) Loosen the drain plug bolt (3).
     (c) Turn and remove the fuel drain plug (1).
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

A. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (2).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (2) from the fuel filter.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel drain plug (2).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (2) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

A. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.

     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from the fuel filter.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

A. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire or safety cable from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from the fuel filter.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

B. Do a Test of Valve 12QM
   (1) In the test that follows, on each operation of the LP valve:
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator operates smoothly from the valve open (valve closed) position to the valve closed (valve open) position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are accurately aligned with the valve open position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are at 90 degrees to each other with the valve closed position.
   (2) For valve 12QM, do this test:

1.On panel 121VU:

  • Open, safety and tag circuit breaker 3QG.
ENG 1 LP valve MOTOR 2 SUPPLY and CONTROL are isolated.
2.On the ECAM CP:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Push the FUEL P/BSW.

  • The FUEL system page shows.

  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is closed (amber cross-line).
3.On LP valve actuator 9QG:

  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is closed.
4.Push L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 P/BSW.

  • The OFF light goes off.

  • The fuel feed line of the LP valve is pressurized.
5.On panel 115VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Set ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the ON position.
  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is open (green in-line).
6.On LP valve actuator 9QG:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve opens.

  • Make sure that the fuel flows into the container during the pumps are in the ON position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is open.
7.On panel 115VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Set ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the OFF position.
  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is closed (amber cross-line).
8.On LP valve actuator 9QG:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve closes.

  • Make sure that the fuel does not flow into the container after the ENG/MASTER is in the OFF position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is closed.
9.Release L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 P/BSW.
  • The OFF light comes on.
10.On panel 121VU:

  • Remove the safety clip and the tag and close circuit breaker 3QG.
ENG 1 LP valve MOTOR 2 SUPPLY and CONTROL are energized.
11.On panel 49VU:

  • open, safety and tag circuit breaker 1QG.
ENG 1 LP valve MOTOR 1 SUPPLY and CONTROL are isolated.


On the ECAM lower DU:

  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is closed (amber cross-line).
12.Push L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 P/BSW.

  • The OFF light goes off.

  • The fuel feed line of the LP valve is pressurized.
13.On panel 115VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Set ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the ON position:
  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is open (green in-line).
14.On LP valve actuator 9QG:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve opens.

  • Make sure that the fuel flows into the container during the pumps are in the ON position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is open.
15.On panel 115VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Set ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the OFF position.
  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows that the valve is closed (amber cross-line).
16.On LP valve actuator 9QG:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve closes.

  • Make sure that the fuel does not flow into the container after the ENG/MASTER in the OFF position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is closed.
17.Release L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 P/BSW.
  • The OFF light comes on.
18.On panel 49VU:

  • Remove the safety clip and the tag and close circuit breaker 1QG.
ENG 1 LP valve MOTOR 1 SUPPLY and CONTROL are energized.

D. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) in position below the fuel manifold.

     (d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).

E. Installation of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Install the fuel drain plug (2) on the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Lubricate a new AIPC 73-12-42-80-070 PACKING (1) with clean V10-077lubricant (engine oil) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
     (b) Install the packing (1) on the fuel drain plug (2).
     (c) Install the fuel drain plug (2) on the fuel filter.
     (d) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (2) to between 1.36 and 1.24 m.daN (120.35 and 109.73 lbf.in ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (e) Safety the fuel drain plug with the lockwire (Material No.V02-147) .
Subtask 28-24-00-020-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (2).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (2) from the fuel filter.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel drain plug (2).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (2) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

G. Installation of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Soak the new AIPC 73-11-10-01-147 PACKING (2) in Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) .
     (b) Lubricate the packing (2) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
     (c) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
     (d) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on the fuel filter.
     (e) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (1) to between 0.62 and 0.51 m.daN (54.87 and 45.13 lbf.in ) T .
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (f) Safety the fuel drain plug (1) with the CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or with the CP8006safety cable 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia..

H. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from the fuel filter.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

I. Installation of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Soak the new AIPC 73-11-10-01-290 PACKING (2) in Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) .
     (b) Lubricate the packing (2) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
     (c) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
     (d) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on the fuel filter.
     (e) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (1) to between 0.62 and 0.51 m.daN (54.87 and 45.13 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (f) Safety the fuel drain plug (1) with the CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or with the CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

J. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug
   (1) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel filter as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (b) Cut and discard the lockwire or safety cable from the fuel drain plug (1).
     (c) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from the fuel filter.

     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
     (f) Keep the container below the drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow during the test:
       1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel system.

K. Do a Test of Valve 13QM
   (1) In the test that follows, on each operation of the LP valve:
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator operates smoothly from the valve open (valve closed) position to the valve closed (valve open) position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are accurately aligned with the valve open position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are at 90 degrees to each other with the valve closed position.
   (2) For valve 13QM, do this test:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve opens.

  • Make sure that the fuel flows into the container during the pumps are in the ON position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is open.
7.On panel 115VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Set ENG/MASTER 2 switch to the OFF position.
  • The RIGHT LP valve indication shows that the valve is closed (amber cross-line).
8.On LP valve actuator 10QG:

  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve closes.

  • Make sure that the fuel does not flow into the container after the ENG/MASTER is in the OFF position.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 5 seconds.
  • Look at the position of the mechanical see/feel indicator.
The indicator shows that the valve is closed.
9.Release R TK PUMPS 1 or 2 P/BSW.
  • The OFF light comes on.
10.On panel 121VU:

  • Remove the safety clip and the tag and close circuit breaker 4QG.
ENG 2 LP valve MOTOR 2 SUPPLY and CONTROL are energized.
11.On panel 49VU:

  • Open, safety and tag circuit breaker 2QG.

     (b) Install the packing (1) on the fuel drain plug (2).
     (c) Install the fuel drain plug (2) on the fuel filter.
     (d) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (2) to between 1.36 and 1.24 m.daN (120.35 and 109.73 lbf.in ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
