A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the APU or bleed air.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the engines.

B. Get Access
NOTE: It is necessary to listen to the LP valve actuator during the test that follows. If the actuator motor can be heard with the access panel in position, it is not necessary to remove it.
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the applicable zone 520 or 620.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003):

  • for the LH LP valve, remove panel 522AT
  • for the RH LP valve, remove panel 622AT.

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Deactivate the unserviceable motor on the defective LP valve actuator as follows:
     (a) If the LH actuator 9QG motor 1 is unserviceable:
  • open, safety and tag the circuit breaker 1QG.
     (b) If the LH actuator 9QG motor 2 is unserviceable:
  • open, safety and tag the circuit breaker 3QG.
     (c) If the RH actuator 10QG motor 1 is unserviceable:
  • open, safety and tag the circuit breaker 2QG.
     (d) If the RH actuator 10QG motor 2 is unserviceable:
  • open, safety and tag the circuit breaker 4QG.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-24-00-750-052-A
A. Test of the left Engine LP-Valve-Actuator 9QG
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this test procedure, one person in the cockpit (to operate the LP valve) and one person near the LP valve (to listen to the actuator motor).
   (1) For left LP-Valve-Actuator 9QG, do the test as follows:

1.On the ECAM control panel:
  • Push (in) the FUEL pushbutton switch.
On the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU):
  • The ECAM shows the FUEL system.
  • The LEFT LP valve indication shows the valve closed (amber cross-line).
2.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switches.
NOTE: This will pressurize the left engine feed-line.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF light of the applicable pushbutton switch goes off.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The applicable L TK PUMP symbol changes from an amber cross-line to a green in-line.
3.On ENG START panel 115VU:
  • Set the ENG/MASTER 1 control switch to the ON position to open the LP valve.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The left LP valve indication changes to show the valve open (green in-line).
4.On LP valve actuator 9QG:
  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for when the LP valve opens.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 4 seconds.
5.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switches and wait for 5 seconds.
NOTE: This will release the pressure through the applicable suction valve.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF light of the applicable pushbutton switch comes on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The FUEL page shows the applicable L TK PUMP symbol as an amber cross-line.
6.On ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD:
  • Release (out) the ENG FIRE 1 pushbutton switch to close the LP valve.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The left LP valve indication changes to show the valve closed (amber cross-line).
7.On LP valve actuator 9QG:
  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for when the LP valve closes.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 4 seconds.
8.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switches.
NOTE: This will pressurize the left engine feed-line.

11.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switches and wait for 5 seconds.
NOTE: This will release the pressure through the applicable suction valve.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF light of the applicable pushbutton switch comes on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The FUEL page shows the applicable L TK PUMP symbol as an amber cross-line.
12.On ENG START panel 115VU:
  • Set the ENG/MASTER 1 control switch to the OFF position to close the LP valve.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The left LP valve indication changes to show the valve closed (amber cross-line).
13.On LP valve actuator 9QG also:
  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for as the LP valve closes.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 4 seconds.

B. Test of the right Engine LP-Valve-Actuator 10QG
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this test procedure, one person in the cockpit (to operate the LP valve) and one person near the LP valve (to listen to the actuator motor).
   (1) For right LP-Valve-Actuator 10QG, do the test as follows:

On the ECAM lower DU:

4.On LP valve actuator 10QG:
  • Listen to the actuator motor and measure the time that it operates for when the LP valve opens.
  • The actuator motor must not operate for more than 4 seconds.

  • for the LH LP valve, install panel 522AT
  • for the RH LP valve, install panel 622AT.

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (6) Make a note in the aircraft log that the defective motor of the LP valve is deactivated.
