A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW is in the off position (the ON legend is off).
   (3) On the FUEL overhead panel 40VU, make sure that all L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position:
  • on the overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU MASTER SW,
  • on the FUEL panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system,
  • on the APU FIRE panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system.
   (5) Make sure that the left MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the MLG door.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-23-51-210-051-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Before you install an actuator with part number (HTE190001, HTE190001-1, HTE190001-2 or HTE1900026), you must do the dimensional inspection of the dowel (anti-rotation) on twin motor actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-200-002).
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE DRIVE OF THE ACTUATOR BECAUSE YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (4) Make sure that the crossfeed valve actuator (3) is in this configuration:
  • The drive key (7) in the vertical (valve open) position
  • The see-feel indicator (1) in the horizontal (valve open) position.
   (5) Make sure that the drive spindle (8) of the crossfeed valve is in this configuration:
  • The drive spindle (8) in the vertical (valve open) position.
   (6) Make sure that the crossfeed valve actuator (3) and the drive spindle (8) stay in the correct configuration.
   (7) Put a new AIPC 28-23-03-01-130 O-RING (5) or AIPC 28-23-83-01-150 O-RING (5) with a thin layer of Fluorosilicone base Grease-- PTFE Thickened High Temp. - (Material No.03KGB1) on the mounting flange (6).
Subtask 28-23-51-420-053-A
B. Installation of the Crossfeed Valve Actuator (5QE)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTLY ALIGN THE POSITIONS OF THE ROLL PIN ON THE DRIVE SPINDLE AND THE PIN HOLE IN THE ACTUATOR. IF NOT, THE ACTUATOR WILL NOT OPERATE THE VALVE CORRECTLY AND CAN CAUSE FUEL LEAKAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE DRIVE OF THE ACTUATOR BECAUSE YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the mounting flange (6) and the crossfeed valve actuator (3).
   (2) Carefully install the crossfeed valve actuator (3) on the mounting flange (6):
     (a) Make sure that the mating surfaces of the crossfeed valve actuator (3) and the drive assembly touch fully with:
  • The drive key of the actuator spindle that engages with the spindle of the drive assembly
  • The roll pin in the drive assembly that engages with the location hole in the actuator
  • The dowel in the flange of the actuator that engages with the slot of the drive assembly.
   (3) Install the V-clamp (4) on the crossfeed valve actuator (3).
   (4) TORQUE the screw of the V-clamp (4) to between 0.143 and 0.117 m.daN (12.65 and 10.35 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (6) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IS CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT IT. CONTAMINATION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR CAN CAUSE INCORRECT FIRE DETECTION.
   (7) Connect the electrical connectors (2) to the crossfeed valve actuator (3).

B. Test(s)
   (1) In the test that follows, on each operation of the crossfeed valve:
  • Make sure that the actuator stops each time when the crossfeed valve moves to the end of its travel.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator operates smoothly, from the valve open (valve closed) position to the valve closed (valve open) position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are accurately aligned in the valve open position.
  • Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are at 90 deg (90 deg) to each other in the valve closed position.
   (2) Do the test as follows:
