Installation of the Fuel Crossfeed Valve
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) On the panel 40VU, make sure that:
(4) Make sure that the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001) is open.
(5) Make sure that the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001) is removed.
(6) Make sure that the crossfeed valve actuator 5QE (Ref. AMM TASK 28-23-51-000-001) is removed.
4. ProcedureWARNING:
OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Make sure that the wing and center tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) are defueled. (2) On the panel 40VU, make sure that:
- the FUEL/X FEED P/BSW 4QE is not pushed. (The ON and OPEN legends of the P/BSW are off).
(4) Make sure that the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001) is open.
(5) Make sure that the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001) is removed.
(6) Make sure that the crossfeed valve actuator 5QE (Ref. AMM TASK 28-23-51-000-001) is removed.
Subtask 28-23-41-530-051-A
A. Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the pump (19), the pipes (6), (14), (21), (26) and (28) and the hole openings of the fuel tank.
Subtask 28-23-41-640-050-A B. Preparation For Installation
(1) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on a new AIPC 28-23-05-03-050 O-RING (3) or AIPC 28-23-85-03-050 O-RING (3), AIPC 28-23-05-02-100 O-RING (13) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RING (13), AIPC 28-23-05-01-130 O-RING (18) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-140 O-RING (18), AIPC 28-23-05-01-110 O-RINGS (7) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RINGS (7) and the AIPC 28-23-05-01-110 O-RING (23) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RING (23).
(2) Install the new O-rings (3), (7) and (13) on the crossfeed valve (11).
(3) Install the new O-ring (23) on the pipe (21).
(4) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the end of the shaft of the crossfeed valve (11).
(5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the head of the screws (1).
Subtask 28-23-41-420-050-A (1) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) on a new AIPC 28-23-05-03-050 O-RING (3) or AIPC 28-23-85-03-050 O-RING (3), AIPC 28-23-05-02-100 O-RING (13) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RING (13), AIPC 28-23-05-01-130 O-RING (18) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-140 O-RING (18), AIPC 28-23-05-01-110 O-RINGS (7) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RINGS (7) and the AIPC 28-23-05-01-110 O-RING (23) or AIPC 28-23-85-01-120 O-RING (23).
(2) Install the new O-rings (3), (7) and (13) on the crossfeed valve (11).
(3) Install the new O-ring (23) on the pipe (21).
(4) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) on the end of the shaft of the crossfeed valve (11).
(5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the head of the screws (1).
C. Installation of the Fuel Crossfeed Valve (10QM)
(1) Install the crossfeed valve (11) on the rear spar (2):
(a) Make sure that the crossfeed valve (11) is in the closed position.
(2) Install the screws (1) on the rear spar (2).
(3) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(4) Install the new O-ring (18) between the cross union (27) and the pump (19).
(5) Install the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26) on the pump (19).
(6) Connect the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26) to the crossfeed valve (11) and to the pipe (21).
(8) Install the washers (17) and the screws (16) on the cross union (27).
(9) TORQUE the screws (16) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(10) Connect the pipe (28) to the cross union (27) with the nut (29).
(11) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 16 and 12 m.N (141.59 and 106.19 lbf.in )
.
(12) Install the bonding strap (24) with the bolt (25) and the nut (20).
(13) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(14) Install the bonding straps (5) on the crossfeed valve (11) with the bolts (4), the washers (9) and the nuts (10).
(15) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(16) Do the electrical bonding check (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-23-41-420-051-A Subtask 28-23-41-420-052-A Subtask 28-23-41-710-050-A Subtask 28-23-41-790-050-A (1) Install the crossfeed valve (11) on the rear spar (2):
(a) Make sure that the crossfeed valve (11) is in the closed position.
(2) Install the screws (1) on the rear spar (2).
(3) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (4) Install the new O-ring (18) between the cross union (27) and the pump (19).
(5) Install the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26) on the pump (19).
(6) Connect the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26) to the crossfeed valve (11) and to the pipe (21).
NOTE: The play between the connections of the pipes (6), the pipe (26) and the cross union (27) will help you to connect the pipes (6) to the crossfeed valve (11) and (26) to the pipe (21).
(7) Tighten the nuts (8), (12) and (22) with your hand. (8) Install the washers (17) and the screws (16) on the cross union (27).
(9) TORQUE the screws (16) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (10) Connect the pipe (28) to the cross union (27) with the nut (29).
(11) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 16 and 12 m.N (141.59 and 106.19 lbf.in )
. (12) Install the bonding strap (24) with the bolt (25) and the nut (20).
(13) TORQUE the nut (20) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (14) Install the bonding straps (5) on the crossfeed valve (11) with the bolts (4), the washers (9) and the nuts (10).
(15) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (16) Do the electrical bonding check (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
G. Do a Check for Leakage
(1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the crossfeed valve (11), the pump (19) and the connections between pipes (26) and (21).
(2) Remove the container CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that there is no leakage at the crossfeed valve (11), the pump (19) and the connections between pipes (26) and (21).
(2) Remove the container CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the wing and center tanks.
(2) Install the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Close the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 28-23-41-650-051-A (1) Make sure that there are no unwanted objects and materials, tools or other equipment in the wing and center tanks.
(2) Install the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
(3) Close the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
