Removal of the Fuel Crossfeed Valve
WARNING:

WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions

OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) You must obey the special fuel safety procedures when you work in the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002). D. On the panel 40VU, make sure that:
Subtask 28-23-41-862-050-A Subtask 28-23-41-010-050-A - the FUEL/X FEED P/BSW 4QE is not pushed in. (The ON and OPEN legends of the P/BSW are off).
F. Get access to the avionics compartment.
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position under the main door of the right main gear.
(2) Open the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(3) Remove the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position under the main door of the right main gear.
(2) Open the main door of the right main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(3) Remove the manhole cover 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).

C. Removal of the Fuel Crossfeed Valve (10QM)
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the crossfeed valve (11), the pump (19) and the connections between the pipes (26) and (21).
(2) Remove the nuts (10), washers (9), bolts (4) and bonding straps (5) from the crossfeed valve (11).
(3) Remove the nut (20), the bolt (25) and the bonding strap (24) from the pipe (26).
(4) Loosen the nut (29) and disconnect the pipe (28) from the cross union (27).
(5) Remove the screws (16) and the washers (17) from the cross union (27).
(6) Loosen the nuts (8) and (22).
(7) Remove the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26).
(9) Loosen the nut (12) and disconnect the pipe (14).
(10) Remove and discard the O-ring (13).
(11) Remove the screws (1) from the rear spar (2).
(12) Carefully remove the crossfeed valve (11) from the rear spar (2).
Subtask 28-23-41-530-050-A (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the crossfeed valve (11), the pump (19) and the connections between the pipes (26) and (21).
(2) Remove the nuts (10), washers (9), bolts (4) and bonding straps (5) from the crossfeed valve (11).
(3) Remove the nut (20), the bolt (25) and the bonding strap (24) from the pipe (26).
(4) Loosen the nut (29) and disconnect the pipe (28) from the cross union (27).
(5) Remove the screws (16) and the washers (17) from the cross union (27).
(6) Loosen the nuts (8) and (22).
(7) Remove the cross union (27) together with the pipes (6) and (26).
NOTE: The play between the connections of the pipe (6), the pipe (26) and the cross union (27) will help you to release the pipes (6) and (26).
(8) Remove and discard the O-rings (7), (18) and (23).(9) Loosen the nut (12) and disconnect the pipe (14).
(10) Remove and discard the O-ring (13).
(11) Remove the screws (1) from the rear spar (2).
(12) Carefully remove the crossfeed valve (11) from the rear spar (2).
NOTE: The play between the connections of the pipes (15) and (14) will help you to release the crossfeed valve (11).
(13) Remove and discard the O-ring (3).D. Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected pump (19) end and the disconnected pipes (6), (14), (21), (26) and (28) ends and the hole openings of the fuel tank.
