A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW is in the off position (the ON legend is off).
   (3) On the FUEL overhead panel 40VU, make sure that all L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • on the overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU MASTER SW,
  • on the FUEL panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system,
  • on the APU FIRE panel 20VU, to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the left MLG door. (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001)
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the main landing-gear door.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-22-51-020-052-A
A. Removal of the APU Fuel Pump (4QC)
NOTE: This removal procedure is applicable for the APU fuel pump P/N C12CB0010.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (3) Remove the screw (15) and the washer (14) from the drain plug (7).
   (4) Disconnect the bonding strap (13) from the drain plug (7).
   (5) Remove all the bolts (3) from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (6) Install two bolts (3) in the extraction threads (4).
   (7) Turn the two bolts (3) equally.
NOTE: The APU fuel pump starts to move out of the canister until the block screw stops the movement of the pump.
   (8) Make sure that the APU fuel pump (1) is in the stop position at the block screw (5).
   (9) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) in position below the APU fuel pump (1).
   (10) Remove the drain plug (7) from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (11) Drain the unwanted fuel from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (12) Remove and discard the O-ring (6) from the drain plug (7).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (13) Remove and discard the lock-wire the screws (8).
   (14) Remove the screws (8) from the locking plate (9).
   (15) Remove the locking plate (9) from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (16) Turn the APU fuel pump (1) counterclockwise until the release slot is in line with the block screw (5).
   (17) Pull the APU fuel pump (1) to remove the pump from the canister (12).
   (18) Remove and discard the O-rings (10) and (11) from the APU fuel pump (1).

B. Removal of the APU Fuel Pump (4QC)
NOTE: This removal procedure is applicable for the APU fuel pump
P/N C12CB0011/C12CB0012/C12CB0013
installed on pump canister P/N C49AA0221 and C49AA0222.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (3) Remove the four screws (10) from the APU fuel pump (1) which attach the pump to the canister (6).
   (4) Remove the APU fuel pump (1) with extraction screws:
     (a) Install the extraction screws into the two extraction threads (9) as far as the security blockscrew (5) permits.
   (5) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) in position below the APU fuel pump (1).
   (6) Remove the drain plug (3) and drain the remaining fuel from the APU fuel pump (1).
   (7) Remove and discard the packing (4) from the drain plug (3).
   (8) Turn the pump in a counterclockwise direction until the release slot is in line with the security blockscrew (5).
   (9) Remove the APU fuel pump (1).
   (10) Remove and discard the two packings (7) and (8) from the APU fuel pump (1).
