A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Defuel the center fuel tank and the applicable wing fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable wing fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable access panel.
     (a) For 5QM, 6QM, 192QM:
  • below access panel 540AB.
     (b) For 7QM, 8QM, 193QM:
  • below access panel 640AB.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
     (a) For 5QM, 6QM, 192QM:
     (b) For 7QM, 8QM, 193QM:
   (3) Open the applicable surge door.
     (a) For 6QM(8QM), 192QM(193QM):
     (b) For 5QM(7QM):
   (4) Install the applicable tool on the surge door.
     (a) For 6QM(8QM), 192QM(193QM):
     (b) For 5QM(7QM):
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-21-54-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fuel Pump Strainers
   (1) For the flat strainers 5QM(7QM), 6QM(8QM):
     (a) Remove and keep the six bolts (2).
     (b) Remove and keep the flat strainer (1).
   (2) For the suction valve strainer 192QM(193QM):
     (a) Remove and keep the eight bolts (6).
     (b) Remove and keep the bolt (5).
     (c) Remove and keep the suction valve strainer assembly.
