A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Defuel the center fuel tank and the applicable wing fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable wing fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panel that follow:

Below 540AB.
(b) FOR [7QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, R WING TK INR), [8QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, R WING TK OUTR)
Below 640AB.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels that follow:
(a) FOR [5QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, L WING TK OUTR), [6QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, L WING TK INR)
Remove 540AB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
(b) FOR [7QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, R WING TK INR), [8QM] (STRAINER-PUMP INLET, R WING TK OUTR)
Remove 640AB (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
(3) Remove the applicable RIB2 access panels that follow:

Remove 540BZ ( 640BZ) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-21-54-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Fuel Pump Strainer
(1) Remove the bolt (14) and disconnect the bonding tab (11).
(2) Remove the two bolts (8) and the three bolts (13).
(3) Remove the cowls (7) and (12).
(4) Remove the bolts (6).
(5) Release the nut (4) and disconnect the filter connector (5) from the fuel pipe (1).
(6) Carefully remove the filter connector (5).
(7) Remove the retaining ring (3) and the nut (4) from the fuel pipe (1).
(8) Remove and discard the O-ring (2) from the fuel pipe (1).
(9) Remove the bolts (9).
(10) Remove the fuel pump strainer (15).
(11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
