A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in the correct position:
     (a) For the wing tank, on the slat/flap control lever to tell persons not to operate the flight control surfaces.
     (b) For the center tank, on the applicable access panel 195BB(196BB) to tell persons not to operate the MLG doors.

A. Safety Precautions

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (3) For the wing tank jet adaptor assembly:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
     (b) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable access panel 575DB(675DB).
     (c) Make sure that the applicable access panel 575DB(675DB) is removed.
   (4) For the center tank jet adaptor assembly:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR DOORS ARE CLEAR.
     (a) Make sure that the applicable MLG door is open 734(744) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
     (b) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
     (c) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable zone 147(148).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (3) For the wing tank jet adaptor assembly:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
     (b) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable access panel 575DB(675DB).
     (c) Make sure that the applicable access panel 575DB(675DB) is removed.
Subtask 28-21-53-210-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Jet Adaptor Inspection
   (1) Clean the jet adaptor assembly (4) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Check that the jet adaptor assembly (4) is not damaged and that the jet (5) is not blocked.
   (3) If the jet (5) is blocked do the steps that follow:
F Jet Adaptor - Inspection ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the trapwire:
       1 Make the ends of the trapwire straight.
       2 Turn the jet adaptor (20) until the slot in the jet adaptor (20) and the blind hole in the jet (5) are aligned.
       3 Bend one end of the trapwire and engage it in the blind hole.
       4 Turn the jet (5). At the same time pull on the free end of the trapwire to help its removal from the groove in the jet (5).
       5 Discard the trapwire.
     (b) Pull the jet (5), with the O-ring (15), from the jet adaptor (20) and remove the:
  • spider (16)
  • spring (17)
  • valve (18)
  • rubber washer (19).
     (c) Use a BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT and carefully remove the blockage from the jet (5). Make sure you do not damage the jet (5).
     (d) Clean all the parts with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
     (e) Install the rubber washer (19), the valve (18), the spring (17) and the spider (16) in the jet adaptor (20).
     (f) Push the jet (5), with O-ring (15), into the jet adaptor (20).
     (g) Install the new trapwire 14QEB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.6 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -:
       1 Bend one end of the trapwire.
       2 Align the slot in the adaptor (20) with the blind hole in the jet (5). Engage the bent end of the trapwire in the blind hole.
       3 Turn the jet (5) to get the trapwire into the groove in the jet (5).
       4 Continue to turn the jet (5) until the trapwire comes into view. Remove the bent end of the trapwire from the blind hole.
       5 Cut the ends of the trapwire and bend them against the sides of the slot in the adaptor (20).

E. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-21-53-01-020 O-RING (3) and the new AIPC 28-21-53-01-030 O-RING (2) with Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .
4. Procedure

C. Leak Test
   (1) Examine the interface of the jet adaptor (4) and the jet pump (1) for fuel leaks.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) For the wing tank jet adaptor assembly:
     (a) Install the applicable access panel 575DB 675DB.
     (b) Remove the access platform(s).
     (c) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (3) For the center tank jet adaptor assembly:
     (a) Remove the access platform(s).
     (b) Close the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) For the wing tank jet adaptor assembly:
     (a) Install the applicable access panel 575DB 675DB.
     (b) Remove the access platform(s).
     (c) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

D. Removal of Equipment
