A. Safety Precautions
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
Subtask 28-21-52-860-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001). (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Defuel the fuel from the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(4) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, push (in) the FUEL system-page button.
(6) In the cockpit, on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU), make sure that the X FEED valve indication shows the green cross-line (closed).
(7) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, turn the LOWER DISPLAY switch counter-clockwise to the off position:
(a) Make sure that the ECAM lower DU goes off.
(8) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 28-21-52-860-056-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Defuel the fuel from the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(4) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, push (in) the FUEL system-page button.
CAUTION:
BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
(5) In the cockpit, on fuel panel 40VU, release (out) the X FEED pushbutton switch (the ON and OPEN lights go off).(6) In the cockpit, on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU), make sure that the X FEED valve indication shows the green cross-line (closed).
(7) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, turn the LOWER DISPLAY switch counter-clockwise to the off position:
(a) Make sure that the ECAM lower DU goes off.
(8) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Defuel the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the applicable wing tank to remove the wing-tank fuel-pump-canister check-valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(3) Defuel the left wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the left wing tank to remove the check valve of center-tank fuel-pump-canister 84QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(4) Defuel the right wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the right wing tank to remove the check valve of center-tank fuel-pump-canister 85QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(5) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(6) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, push (in) the FUEL system-page button.
(8) In the cockpit, on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU), make sure that the X FEED valve indication shows the green cross-line (closed).
(9) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, turn the LOWER DISPLAY switch counterclockwise to the off position:
(a) Make sure that the ECAM lower DU goes off.
(10) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

(2) Defuel the applicable wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the applicable wing tank to remove the wing-tank fuel-pump-canister check-valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(3) Defuel the left wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the left wing tank to remove the check valve of center-tank fuel-pump-canister 84QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(4) Defuel the right wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer the fuel from the right wing tank to remove the check valve of center-tank fuel-pump-canister 85QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(5) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(6) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel, push (in) the FUEL system-page button.
CAUTION:
BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.

D. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable fuel pump.
(2) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-001).
Subtask 28-21-52-010-056-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable fuel pump.
(2) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-001).
D. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable fuel pump.
(2) For the check valve of the wing-tank fuel pump canisters:
(a) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-001).
(3) For the check valve of the center-tank fuel pump canisters 84QM(85QM):
(a) Open the applicable access panel 195BB 196BB.
(b) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-002).
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable fuel pump.
(2) For the check valve of the wing-tank fuel pump canisters:
(a) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-001).
(3) For the check valve of the center-tank fuel pump canisters 84QM(85QM):
(a) Open the applicable access panel 195BB 196BB.
(b) Remove the applicable fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-002).
Subtask 28-21-52-020-057-A
A. Removal of the Check Valve of the Fuel Pump Canister
(1) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the applicable fuel pump canister.
(2) Remove the four screws (2) and if applicable, the four washers (3).
(4) Remove and discard the O-ring (5).
(1) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the applicable fuel pump canister.
(2) Remove the four screws (2) and if applicable, the four washers (3).
NOTE: The washers (3) are installed on canisters with part number series 568-1-27203-xxx and 568-1-27244-xxx.
The washers (3) are not installed on canisters with part number series C93R38-6xx.
(3) Remove the check valve (4) from the canister (1). The washers (3) are not installed on canisters with part number series C93R38-6xx.
(4) Remove and discard the O-ring (5).
