3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-21-49-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the Main Landing Gear (MLG) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) In the cockpit, on center instrument-panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that [6GA] is in the DOWN position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the MLG.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable fuel pump fairing at zone 540 (640).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-21-49-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE SCRAPER BETWEEN THE FAIRING AND THE WING SKIN. REMOVE THE PARTS CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
A. Removal of the Inboard Fuel-Pump Fairing
NOTE: There can be a sealant between the fairing(s) and the lower wing skin. If necessary, you can use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the edge of the fairing/wing skin.
   (1) Remove the front fairing (13) and the cover plate (12) assembly as follows:
     (a) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
     (b) Hold the cover plate (12) and remove the bolts (8) and the washers (9).
     (c) Remove the front fairing (13) and the cover plate (12) assembly from the lower wing skin.
   (2) If necessary, remove the front fairing (13) from the cover plate (12) as follows:
     (a) Hold the front fairing (13) and remove the bolt (11), the washer (10) and the bush (14).
     (b) Remove the front fairing (13) from the cover plate (12).
NOTE: There can be the sealant between the front fairing (13) and the cover plate (12).
     (c) Use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the front fairing (13) from the cover plate (12).
   (3) Remove the rear fairing (4) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (1), the bolt (3) and the bush (2).
     (b) Move the rear fairing (4) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolt (6).
     (c) Carefully release the harness (27) from the retention channel (inside the rear fairing (4)).
     (d) Remove the rear fairing (4).
   (4) Remove the intermediate fairing (5) as follows:
     (a) Move the intermediate fairing (5) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolts (6).
     (b) Carefully release the harness (27) from the retention channel (inside the intermediate fairing (5)).
     (c) Remove the intermediate fairing (5).
Subtask 28-21-49-020-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE SCRAPER BETWEEN THE FAIRING AND THE WING SKIN. REMOVE THE PARTS CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
B. Removal of the Outboard Fuel-Pump Fairing
NOTE: There can be a sealant between the fairing(s) and the lower wing skin. If necessary, you can use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the edge of the fairing/wing skin.
   (1) Remove the front fairing (28) and the cover plate (26) assembly as follows:
     (a) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
     (b) Hold the cover plate (26) and remove the bolts (22) and the washers (23).
     (c) Remove the front fairing (28) and the cover plate (26) assembly from the lower wing skin.
   (2) If necessary, remove the front fairing (28) from the cover plate (26) as follows:
     (a) Hold the front fairing (28) and remove the bolt (25), the washer (24) and the bush (29).
     (b) Remove the front fairing (28) from the cover plate (26).
NOTE: There can be the sealant between the front fairing (28) and the cover plate (26).
     (c) Use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the front fairing (28) from the cover plate (26).
   (3) Remove the rear fairing (18) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (15), the bolt (17) and the bush (16).
     (b) Move the rear fairing (18) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolt (20).
     (c) Carefully release the harness (27) from the retention channel (inside the rear fairing (18)).
     (d) Remove the rear fairing (18).
   (4) Remove the intermediate fairing (19) as follows:
     (a) Move the intermediate fairing (19) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolts (20).
     (b) Carefully release the harness (27) from the retention channel (inside the intermediate fairing (19)).
     (c) Remove the intermediate fairing (19).
Subtask 28-21-49-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE SCRAPER BETWEEN THE FAIRING AND THE WING SKIN. REMOVE THE PARTS CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
C. Removal of the Inboard Fuel-Pump Fairing

     (a) Hold the front fairing (12) and remove the bolt (10) the washer (9) and the bush (13).
     (b) Remove the front fairing (12) from the cover plate (11).
NOTE: There can be the sealant between the front fairing (12) and the cover plate (11).
     (c) Use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the front fairing (12) from the cover plate (11).
   (3) Remove the rear fairing (4) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (1), the bolt (3) and the bush (2).
     (b) Move the rear fairing (4) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolt (6).
     (c) Carefully release the harness (25) from the retention channel (inside the rear fairing (4)).
     (d) Remove the rear fairing (4).
   (4) Remove the intermediate fairing (5) as follows:
     (a) Move the intermediate fairing (5) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolts (6).
     (b) Carefully release the harness (25) from the retention channel (inside the intermediate fairing (5)).
     (c) Remove the intermediate fairing (5).
Subtask 28-21-49-020-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE SCRAPER BETWEEN THE FAIRING AND THE WING SKIN. REMOVE THE PARTS CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
D. Removal of the Outboard Fuel-Pump Fairing
NOTE: There can be a sealant between the fairing(s) and the lower wing skin. If necessary, you can use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the edge of the fairing/wing skin.
   (1) Remove the front fairing (26) and the cover plate (24) assembly as follows:
     (a) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
     (b) Hold the cover plate (24) and remove the bolts (21).
     (c) Remove the front fairing (26) and the cover plate (24) assembly from the lower wing skin.
   (2) If necessary, remove the front fairing (26) from the cover plate (24) as follows:
     (a) Hold the front fairing (26) and remove the bolt (23), the washer (22) and the bush (27).
     (b) Remove the front fairing (26) from the cover plate (24).
NOTE: There can be the sealant between the front fairing (26) and the cover plate (24).
     (c) Use a SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the front fairing (26) from the cover plate (24).
   (3) Remove the rear fairing (17) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (14), the bolt (16) and the bush (15).
     (b) Move the rear fairing (17) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolt (19).
     (c) Carefully release the harness (25) from the retention channel (inside the rear fairing (17)).
     (d) Remove the rear fairing (17).
   (4) Remove the intermediate fairing (18) as follows:
     (a) Move the intermediate fairing (18) rearward in the slotted holes, then lower it a small distance from the wing skin bolts (19).
     (b) Carefully release the harness (25) from the retention channel (inside the intermediate fairing (18)).
     (c) Remove the intermediate fairing (18).
