B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:

     (a) On the ECAM control panel (CP), push (in) the FUEL P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the FUEL page shows on the ECAM lower display unit (DU).
   (3) Do a refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004) or a fuel transfer (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) to obtain these fuel levels:
  • wing tanks less than 5000 kg (11023 lb)
  • the center tank more than 250 kg (551 lb).
   (4) Make sure that the refuel/defuel panel door 192MB is closed.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the applicable access panel 522JB 622JB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-006).
   (2) Open the RH MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is installed on the RH MLG door actuator.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the refuel valve 10QU.

E. Preparation For Test
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Extend the slats to 16 deg. or more (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the slat/flap control lever.
   (3) On the panel 40VU, make sure that these pushbutton switches (P/BSW) are set as follows:

  • CTR TK MODE SEL released out, MAN
  • L TK PUMPS 1 & 2 released out, OFF
  • R TK PUMPS 1 & 2 released out, OFF
  • CTR TK PUMP 1 & PUMP 2 released out, OFF
  • X-FEED released out, lights off.
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

1.On the panel 40VU:

  • make sure that the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSWs are in the OFF position.
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW OFF lights are on.
2.On the panel 121VU:

  • remove the safety clip and the tag and close the circuit breakers 29QA and 32QA.
The CTR TK PUMP 1 supply and indication circuits are energized.
3.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW.
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW OFF light goes off
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW FAULT light comes on.
4.On the panel 121VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • remove the safety clip and the tag and close the circuit breaker 31QA.
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW FAULT light goes off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 shows green in-line (pump on).

  • release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW.
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 shows amber cross-line (pump off).

On the panel 40VU:

  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 P/BSW OFF light comes on.

  • open, safety and tag the circuit breakers 29QA and 32QA
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 supply and indication circuits are isolated
  • remove the safety clip and the tag and close the circuit breaker 30QA.

7.On the panel 40VU:

  • push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW.

  • release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW.

B. Functional Test of the Center-Tank Fuel Control (Fuel Transfer Test)
NOTE: This procedure also gives step(s) for the aircrafts with the ACT(s) installed. You can ignore the step(s) if it is not applicable for you.
ACTION
RESULT
1.Make sure that the fuel quantities are as follows:
  • The center tank contains more than 250 kg (550 lb)
  • The left and right wing tank contains less than 5000 kg (11000 lb).

2.Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).

3.Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is installed on the slat/flap control lever.

4.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the MODE SELECT switch is in the OFF position.

5.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch to set the AUTO position.
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.

6.On panel 121VU:
  • Close the circuit breakers 31QA, 32QA and 47QA.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.
  • The FAULT light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch comes on.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR come on.

On the ECAM upper DU:
  • 10 seconds after you put the MODE SELECT switch in the OFF position, the message FUEL AUTO FEED FAULT comes on.
7.On panel 121VU:
  • Close circuit breakers 29QA and 30QA.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 shows green in-line (pump on).
8.Do a fuel transfer from the center tank to the wing tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001), to give a center tank FQI indication of less than 50 kg (100 lb).

9.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the MODE SELECT switch is in the OFF position.
On the ECAM DU:
  • The message FUEL AUTO FEED FAULT goes off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • After 5 minutes the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 shows green cross-line (pump off).

On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch goes off.
10.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF lights come on.
  • Release (out) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch to set the MAN position.

11.Do a refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004) or a fuel transfer (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) to get these fuel levels:
  • A minimum of 2500 kg (5500 lb) and a maximum of 5000 kg (11000 lb) in each wing tank
  • A minimum of 300 kg (700 lb) and a maximum of 500 kg (1100 lb) in the center tank.

12.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the DE-FUEL/XFR position.

13.On panel 121VU:
  • Open circuit breaker 1QU.

14.Close access door 192MB.

15.On applicable wing-tank refuel-valve(s) 7QU(8QU):
  • Push and hold in the manual plunger(s).
  • The applicable wing-tank refuel valve(s) open(s).

On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch is on.
  • The LH and RH TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches are OFF (the OFF lights are on).
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches are OFF (the OFF lights are on).
  • The X FEED pushbutton switch is ON and the OPEN lights are off.
16.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch to set the AUTO position.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light goes off and the FAULT light comes on.

On the ECAM upper DU:
  • The message FUEL AUTO FEED FAULT comes on.
  • Push (in) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The X FEED pushbutton switch is ON and the OPEN lights come on.
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches OFF and FAULT lights go off.
  • Monitor the CTR TK display.
  • The FAULT light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch stays on.

On the ECAM upper DU:
  • The message FUEL AUTO FEED FAULT goes off.
NOTE: When the low level sensors become dry, the center tank pumps will scavenge for 5 minutes before they are latched off.
NOTE: When the center tank pumps pressure is low:
  • On fuel control-panel 40VU, the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 FAULT lights can come on
  • On the ECAM lower DU, the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 LO PR messages can come on.

    These warnings are shown if the pumps stay ON for 6 minutes after the low level sensors become dry.
17.On the Multipurpose Control and Display unit (MCDU) control panel:
  • Push (in) the MCDU MENU key
On the MCDU:
  • The MCDU MENU page is shown
  • Push (in) the CFDS line key
  • The CFDS MENU page is shown
  • Push (in) the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST line key
  • The SYSTEM REPORT/TEST MENU page is shown
  • Push (in) the FUEL line key
  • The first page of the FUEL main menu is shown
  • Push (in) the NEXT PAGE key

  • Identify and monitor the center-tank left-low-level-sensor bit-position-indicator (7P).
On the MCDU:
  • Left-sensor bit-indicator 7P is shown 0 (sensor wet).
  • Identify and monitor the center-tank right-low-level-sensor bit-position-indicator (4J).
  • Right-sensor bit-indicator 4J is shown 0 (sensor wet).
  • Push (in) the NEXT PAGE key frequently until the sensor bit indications change from 0 to 1.
NOTE: Use of the NEXT PAGE key frequently, allows the FQIS DISCRETE INPUTS page display to update.
  • Left-sensor bit-indicator 7P and right-sensor bit-indicator 4J change from 0 (sensor wet) to 1 (sensor dry).

19.Make sure that the applicable center tank pump goes off automatically 5 minutes after its related sensor becomes dry.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The FUEL PAGE CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 symbols change from green in-line (pump on) to green cross-line (pump off)
  • Make sure that the center tank is empty.
20.On applicable wing-tank refuel-valve(s) 7QU (8QU):
  • Release the manual plunger(s).
The applicable wing-tank refuel valve(s) close(s).
21.On center-tank refuel-valve 10QU:
  • Push (in) and hold the manual plunger.
The center-tank refuel valve opens.
22.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the LH and RH TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The LH and RH TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches OFF lights go off
  • The LH and RH TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches FAULT lights come on momentarily and then go off while fuel is transferred to the center tank.
23.Make sure that the fuel quantities are as follows:
  • The center tank more than 250 kg (550 lb)
  • The left and right wing tank less than 5000 kg (11000 lb).
The fuel quantity is not equal on each side of the aircraft centerline.
24.On the MCDU, when the left and right low-level-sensor bit-indicators are shown 0 (wet):
  • Make sure that center tank pumps 1 and 2 stay off.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The FUEL PAGE CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 symbols are green cross-line.
25.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the LH and RH TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF lights come on.
26.On refuel valve 10QU:
  • Release the manual plunger.
The center-tank refuel valve closes.
27.On panel 121VU:
  • Close circuit breaker 1QU.

28.Open access door 192MB, on refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the CTR REFUEL VALVE switch in the OPEN position.
  • Make sure that center tank pumps 1 and 2 come on.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The FUEL PAGE CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 symbols change from green cross-line to green in-line.

NOTE: The center tank pumps latch is released when one of the REFUEL/DEFUEL valves is opened.
29.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF lights come on.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
  • Release (out) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
  • The ON light goes off
  • The OPEN light goes off.
30.On panel 121VU:
  • Open circuit breakers 29QA and 30QA.
NOTE: Circuit breaker 29QA and 30QA are open until the full test close up. This will not make the pumps dry.

31.Refuel the aircraft to 13000 kg (28700 lb), with the supply as follows:

32.After refueling, on refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the MODE SELECT switch is in the OFF position.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch goes off.

On the ECAM upper DU:
  • The message FUEL AUTO FEED FAULT goes off.
33.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches are on (the OFF lights go off).
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR come on.
34.On panels 49VU and 121VU:
  • Open circuit breakers 5CV and 7CV.
Sets SFCC No.1 and No.2 to give a slat less than 16 deg (16 deg) signal.

On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR come on.
35.On panel 49VU, close circuit breakers 5CV and 7CV.

36.Do a fuel transfer (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) to get these fuel levels:
  • The wing tanks to high level (HI LVL light (blue) on refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-004)
  • The center tank more than 250 kg (550 lb).

CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT FUEL WILL FLOW OUT FROM THE NACA VENT INTAKE.
37.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Hold the TEST switch in the HIGH position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The HI LVL lights (blue) go out.
38.On the fuel tanker/pump unit:

39.After refueling, on refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the MODE SELECT switch is in the OFF position.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR go off.
40.On panel 85VU:

  • Apply +28V DC supply to the rack connector AB, pin 1C.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR come on.
  • Remove +28V DC supply from the rack connector AB pin 1C.
After two minutes, on fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches go off.
41.On panel 85VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 LO PR and the CTR TK PUMP 2 LO PR go off.
42.Do an operational test of the EIU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-710-040).

5.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch to set the AUTO position.
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.

6.On panel 121VU:
  • Close circuit breakers 31QA, 32QA and 47QA.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The FAULT lights of the CTR TK PUMP 1 and 2 pushbutton switches come on.
  • The FAULT light of the MODE SEL pushbutton switch comes on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
