A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
Subtask 28-21-00-860-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:

  • on the ECAM Control Panel (CP), push (in) the FUEL push icon switch
  • make sure that the FUEL page shows on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU)
   (4) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel to get these fuel quantities (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001):
  • the center tank contains approximately 200 kg (440 lb)
  • the wing-tank inner-cells contain less than 5030 kg (11100 lb).

4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

A. Operational Test of the Center Tank Pump Control by the Low Level Sensors
NOTE: During this test, the ECAM can show unwanted indications which you can ignore.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL/XFR position.
  • The MODE SELECT OPEN light comes on.
  • Set the left and right REFUEL VALVES to OPEN position.

2.On fuel-quantity indicator 6QT:
  • Make sure that the applicable wing tank has sufficient space for the total quantity of fuel in the center tank.

3.On the MCDU:
On the MCDU:
  • Push the line key adjacent to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST.
  • The SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page shows.
  • Push the line key adjacent to the FUEL.
  • The FUEL page shows.
  • Push the NEXT PAGE key.
  • The next FUEL page shows.
  • Push the line key adjacent to the INPUT PARAMETER VALUES.
  • The FQIS INPUT PARAMETERS page shows.
  • Push the NEXT PAGE key until the FQIS DISCRETE INPUTS page shows.

4.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 pushbutton switches.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The OFF lights go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR display goes to green in-line.
5.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.

  • Push (in) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The MODE SEL MAN light goes off.

  • The ON light (white) comes on
  • The OPEN light (green) comes on (valve is fully open)
  • Fuel moves from the center tank to the wing tanks.
6.Monitor fuel indicator 6QT and the MCDU matrix display continuously until:

A.The center-tank left low-level-sensor at P7 changes from 0 to 1.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • After five minutes, the applicable CTR display goes to green cross-line.
B.The center-tank right low-level-sensor at J4 changes from 0 to 1.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • After five minutes, the applicable CTR display goes to green cross-line.
  • Fuel-quantity indicator 6QT shows CTR at 130 kg (286.60 lb) or less.
NOTE: When you monitor the MCDU matrix display, it is important to press the NEXT PAGE key to show the changes.

7.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the REFUEL VALVE switches to the NORM position
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF position.

CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
8.On fuel panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the X FEED pushbutton switch
  • Release (out) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
On fuel panel 40VU:
  • The ON light (white) goes off
