A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:

  • on the ECAM control panel (CP), push (in) the FUEL pushbutton switch (P/BSW)
  • make sure that the FUEL page shows on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU).
   (3) Make sure that the fuel tanks contain a minimum of 500 l (130 USgal) of fuel. Refuel if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the access door 192MB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power, do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 622.
   (2) Open the access door 622KB.
NOTE: If operating in battery power, do not keep the door open longer than necessary because the battery can discharge.

D. Preparation For Test
   (1) On the panel 800VU:

  • put the MODE SELECT switch to the DEFUEL/XFR position.
   (2) On the panel 40VU:

  • push (in) the X-FEED pushbutton switch (P/BSW).
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

  • make sure that all the fuel-tank pump P/BSW are in the off position.
  • all the fuel-tank pump P/BSW OFF lights are on
2.On the panel 800VU:

  • put the RIGHT REFUEL switch to the OPEN position.

3.On the panel 40VU:

  • push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW.
  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights go off
  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW FAULT lights come on momentarily and then go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the left tank pump 1 and 2 symbols go green in-line
  • the FUEL page shows an increase of the fuel quantity in the right wing.
4.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • release (out) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW.
  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the FUEL page symbols for the left tank pump 1 and 2 are off (amber cross-line).
5.On the panel 800VU:

  • put the RIGHT REFUEL VALVE switch to the NORM position

  • put the LEFT REFUEL VALVE switch to the OPEN position.

6.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW
  • the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights go off
  • the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW FAULT lights come on momentarily and then go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the right tank pumps 1 and 2 symbols are on (green in-line).
  • the FUEL page shows an increase of the fuel quantity in the left wing.
  • release (out) the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW.
On the panel 40VU:

  • the R TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the FUEL page symbols for the right tank pumps 1 and 2 are off (amber cross-line).

  • put the RIGHT REFUEL VALVE switch to the OPEN position

  • make sure that the LEFT REFUEL VALVE switch is in OPEN position.

2.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW OFF lights go off
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW FAULT lights come on momentarily and then go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the FUEL page shows an increase in the fuel quantities, at the left and right wings.
  • release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW.
On the panel 40VU:

  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and PUMP 2 P/BSW OFF lights come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the FUEL page symbols for the center-tank pump 1 and 2 are off (amber cross-line).
3.On the panel 800VU:

  • put the LEFT and RIGHT REFUEL VALVE switches in the NORM position
  • put the CTR REFUEL VALVE switch in the OPEN position.

4.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW
  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights go off
  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW FAULT lights come on momentarily and then go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the left tank pumps 1 and 2 symbols go green in-line
  • the FUEL page shows an increase of fuel quantity in the center tank.

Subtask 28-21-00-860-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
   (1) In the cockpit, on fuel panel 40VU, release the X-FEED pushbutton switch.
   (2) On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:

  • Put the REFUEL VALVE switches to the NORM position
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF position.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close access door 192MB.
   (5) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 28-21-00-860-063-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
   (1) In the cockpit, on fuel panel 40VU, release the X-FEED pushbutton switch.
   (2) On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Put the REFUEL VALVE switches to the NORM position
  • Put the MODE SELECT switch to the OFF position.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close access door 622KB.
   (5) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (6) In the cockpit, on the ECAM CP, put the BRT switches to the OFF position.
   (7) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
