4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.
Subtask 28-21-00-710-055-A
A. Operational Test of The Fuel Flow through the Fuel Pumps with Gravity Feed (Left Wing Tank Main Pumps)
ACTION
RESULT
1.With the aircraft engines at FLX TO/MCT power and the fuel tank pumps running.

2.On the panel 40VU:
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • make sure that the X FEED P/BSW is released (out).
  • the FUEL page shows the X-FEED valve symbol closed (green cross-line).
  • release (out) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW.
On the panel 40VU:

  • the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW OFF lights come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the FUEL page shows the symbols for the left fuel-tank pump 1 and 2 are off (amber cross-line).
