   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (3) On the ECAM control panel (CP), push (in) the FUEL push icon switch.
   (4) Refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003) or transfer fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) to get the fuel configuration that follows:
     (a) FOR [84QM] (CANISTER-FUEL PUMP, L CTR TK)
  • the center tank contains more than 500 kg (1102 lb) of fuel
  • the LEFT outer fuel cell is full of fuel
  • the LEFT wing tank contains between 750 kg (1653 lb) and 5000 kg (11023 lb) of fuel.
     (b) FOR [85QM] (CANISTER-FUEL PUMP, R CTR TK)
  • the center tank contains more than 500 kg (1102 lb) of fuel
  • the RIGHT outer fuel cell is full of fuel
  • the RIGHT wing tank contains between 750 kg (1653 lb) and 5000 kg (11023 lb) of fuel.
   (5) Extend the slats to more than 16 degrees (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (6) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the slat/flap control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).

4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

A. Operational Test of Main Fuel-Pump System to Ensure Both Center Tank Pumps Feed for 2 Minutes After Engine Start (Method 1)
NOTE: To do this method of the test you must remove the Engine Interface Unit (EIU)
NOTE: During this test the ECAM can show unwanted indications, which you can ignore.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the panel 40VU:
On the panel 40VU:
  • make sure the MODE SEL P/BSW is released (out)
  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light is on
  • push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 OFF lights go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line).
  • push (in) the MODE SEL P/BSW.
On the panel 40VU:

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light goes off

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW FAULT light comes on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps off (green cross-line).
2.On the panel 85VU:

  • Using a portable 28 volt DC Power Supply, apply a +28 volt DC current at the rack connector AB pin 1C
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line)
  • remove the +28 volt DC current from the rack connector AB pin 1C.
  • approximately 2 mins after the +28 volt DC current is removed the ECAM lower DU shows the CTR pumps off (green cross-line).
3.Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
When the slats are retracted to less than 16 deg.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line).

  • release (out) the MODE SEL P/BSW
  • the MODE SEL P/BSW FAULT light goes off

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light comes on

  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW OFF lights come on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps off (amber cross-line).

B. Operational Test of the Main Fuel-Pump System to Ensure Both Center Tank Pumps Feed for 2 Minutes After Engine Start (Method 2)
NOTE: To do this method of the test you must dry motor the engines.
NOTE: During this test the ECAM may show unwanted indications that you can ignore.

  • make sure the MODE SEL P/BSW is released (out)
  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light is on
  • push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW
  • the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 OFF lights go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line).
  • push (in) the MODE SEL P/BSW.
On the panel 40VU:

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light goes off

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW FAULT light comes on.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps off (green cross-line).
2.Dry motor the engines (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001). During the Dry Motoring Check monitor the ECAM lower-DU fuel-page for the indications that follow:




On the ECAM lower DU:
  • when you push in the ENG/MAN START/1(2) the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line)

  • approximately 2 mins after you release out the ENG/MAN START/1(2) the ECAM lower DU shows the CTR pumps off (green cross-line).
3.Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
When the slats are retracted to less than 16 deg.

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • the CTR display shows the pumps on and normal (green in-line).

On the panel 40VU:
  • release (out) the MODE SEL P/BSW
  • the MODE SEL P/BSW FAULT light goes off

  • the MODE SEL P/BSW MAN light comes on
  • release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 and the CTR TK PUMP 2 P/BSW.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the slat/flap control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
   (3) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (4) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (5) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (7) Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
