A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-20-00-860-069-A
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (3) In the cockpit, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
  • Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch is in the OFF position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (4) Make sure that engine 1 and engine 2 shutdown occurs for a minimum of one hour before you do this procedure.
   (5) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is OFF.
   (6) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (7) In the cockpit, on the ECAM control panel:
     (a) Push the FUEL pushbutton switch:
  • The FUEL page comes into view on the lower ECAM DU.
     (b) Make sure that the engine LP valves are closed (amber cross-line) on the lower ECAM DU.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-20-00-680-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Fuel Feed Pipe at Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) To drain the fuel from the fuel feed pipe at the front spar (RIB8):
     (a) Remove the drain plug from the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-000-001).
   (2) When the fuel flow stops, install the drain plug in the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-400-001).
Subtask 28-20-00-680-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Fuel Feed Pipe at Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) To drain the fuel from the fuel feed pipe at the front spar (RIB8):
     (a) Remove the drain plug from the fuel-cooled oil cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 73-12-42-000-010).
   (2) When the fuel flow stops, install the drain plug in the fuel-cooled oil cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 73-12-42-400-010).
Subtask 28-20-00-680-055-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Fuel Feed Pipe at Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) To drain the fuel from the fuel feed pipe at the front spar (RIB8):
     (a) Remove the drain plug from fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-000-801).
   (2) When the fuel flow stops, install the drain plug in the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-06-400-801).
Subtask 28-20-00-680-055-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Fuel Feed Pipe at Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) To drain the fuel from the fuel feed pipe at the front spar (RIB8):
     (a) Remove the drain plug from fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-000-003).
   (2) When the fuel flow stops, install the drain plug in the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-400-003).
Subtask 28-20-00-020-056-A
B. Removal of the Seals on the Fuel Feed Pipe at Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) Disconnect the pipe assembly (32) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (46) and the bolts (54) from the clamps (45).
     (b) Disengage the sleeve (47) and move it away on the pipe assembly (52).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (48) and (51).
     (d) Loosen the nut (48).
     (e) Move the nut (48) with retaining ring (49) away from the connector (53).
     (f) Remove and discard the O-rings (44) and (43) from the pipe assembly (32).
     (g) Remove and discard the O-ring (50) from the pipe assembly (52).
     (h) Remove the nuts (35) and (33), the bolts (36) and (41) and the bonding strap (34) and (42).
     (i) Remove the bolt (37), the washers (38) and (40) and the tab washer (39).
     (j) Remove the bolts (29).
     (k) Disconnect the pipe assembly (32) from the sleeve (26).
     (l) Remove and discard the O-rings (30) and (31).
   (2) Remove the pipe assembly (7) as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (22) and (8), the bolts (23) and (20) and the bonding straps (21) and (2).
     (b) Safety the bonding strap (2) to the LP shut-off valve (1) with a TIE WRAP(S).
     (c) Remove the bolts (4) and the nuts (5).
     (d) Remove the bolt (28), nut (19), washers (27) and (18) and tab washer (17).
     (e) Remove the sleeves (26) and (24).
     (f) Remove and discard the O-ring (25).
     (g) If required, remove the LP fuel-valve actuator (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-24-51-000-001) from the LP shut-off valve (1).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (h) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (14) and (10) and the connector (12).
     (i) Loosen the nuts (14) and (10) from the connector (12).
     (j) Remove the pipe assembly (7) from the LP shut-off valve (1).
     (k) Remove and discard the O-rings (6), (16) and (15).
     (l) Remove the nuts (14) and (10) and the connector (12) from the LP shut-off valve (1).
     (m) Remove the retaining rings (11) and (13).
     (n) Remove and discard the O-ring (9) from the LP shut-off valve (1).
   (3) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.

C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the fuel pipes to make sure that there is no blockage.
NOTE: The damage limits for the fuel pipes and the fuel line shrouds are given in the Fuel-Pipe Repair Manual (Ref. FPRM Check) and (Ref. FPRM Description).
Subtask 28-20-00-420-058-A
D. Installation of the Fuel-Feed Pipe Seals at the Front Spar (RIB8)
   (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (2) Install the pipe assembly (7) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-21-05-25-070 ORING (9), AIPC 28-21-05-25-070 ORING (16), AIPC 28-21-05-25-080 ORING (15) and AIPC 28-21-05-25-160 ORING (6) with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .
     (b) Install the new O-ring (9) in position on the LP shut-off valve (1).
     (c) Install the retaining rings (11) and (13) in position on the connector (12).
     (d) Install the nuts (10) and (14) on the connector (12) and make sure that you do not fully tighten the nuts (10) and (14) at this time.
     (e) Connect the connector (12) to the LP shut-off valve (1).
     (f) Install the new O-rings (15), (16) and (6) in position on the pipe assembly (7).
     (g) Install the pipe assembly (7) in position on the LP shut-off valve (1).
     (h) Hand tighten the nuts (10) and (14).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (i) Safety the nuts (10) and (14) and the connector (12) with a 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (j) If removed, install the LP fuel-valve actuator (3) on the LP shut-off valve (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-24-51-400-001).
     (k) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-21-05-25-140 ORING (25) with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .
     (l) Install the new O-ring (25) in position on the sleeve (26).
     (m) Put the sleeves (24) and (26) in position.
     (n) Install the bolts (4) and the nuts (5).
     (o) Put the tab washer (17) in position and install the washers (27) and (18), the bolt (28) and the nut (19).
     (p) TORQUE the nuts (5) and (19) to between 0.40 and 0.30 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T.
     (q) Install the bonding straps (2) and (21) as follows:
       1 Put one end of the bonding strap (21) in position on the tab washer (17).
       2 Install the bolt (23) and the nut (22).
       3 TORQUE the nut (22) to between 3.22 and 2.69 m.daN (23.75 and 19.84 lbf.ft )
T.
       4 Cut and discard the TIE WRAP(S) from the bonding strap (2).
       5 Put the bonding strap (2) and the other end of the bonding strap (21) in position on the pipe assembly (7).
       6 Install the bolt (20) and the nut (8) .
       7 TORQUE the nut (8) to between 3.22 and 2.69 m.daN (23.75 and 19.84 lbf.ft )
T.
   (3) Install the pipe assembly (32) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new
AIPC 28-21-05-25-240 ORING (30), AIPC 28-21-05-25-230 ORING (31), AIPC 28-21-06-01-100 ORING (44), AIPC 28-21-06-01-070 ORING (43) and AIPC 28-21-06-01-070 ORING (50) with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) .
     (b) Install the new O-rings (30) and (31) on the pipe assembly (32).
     (c) Install pipe assembly (32) in position on the aircraft structure.
     (d) Connect the pipe assembly (32) to the sleeve (26).
     (e) Install the bolts (29).
     (f) Install the tab washer (39), the washers (38) and (40) and the bolt (37).
     (g) TORQUE the bolts (37) and (29) to between 0.80 and 0.70 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T.
     (h) Install the new O-ring (50) on the pipe assembly (52).
     (i) Install the new O-rings (43) and (44) on the pipe assembly (32).
     (j) Install the sleeve (47) on the pipe assembly (52).
     (k) Move the sleeve (47) a short distance down the pipe assembly (52) to correctly install the O-ring (50).
     (l) Install the clamps (45) with the bolts (54) and the nuts (46).
     (m) TORQUE the nut (46) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (n) Install the nut (48) and the new
AIPC 28-21-06-01-110 RING (49) on the pipe connector (53):
  • Make sure the distance "A" between the ends of the pipes is 5 -3 MM or +3 MM (0.1969 -0.1181 IN. or +0.1181 IN.).
       1 Measure the distance of the pipe assembly (52) movement as follows:
         a Move pipe assembly (52) in one direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the related connector.
         b Move pipe assembly (52) fully in the opposite direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the opposite side related connector.
         c The total movement must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 16 MM (0.6299 IN.).
         d Set pipe assembly in the middle position between the two related connectors.
     (o) Hand tighten the nut (48).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (p) Safety the nut (48) and (51) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (q) Put one end of the bonding strap (34) in position on the tab washer (39).
     (r) Put the other end of the bonding strap (34) in position on the pipe assembly (32).
     (s) Put the bonding strap (42) in position on the pipe assembly (32).
     (t) Install the bolts (36) and (41) and the nuts (35) and (33).
     (u) TORQUE the nuts (35) and (33) to between 3.22 and 2.69 m.daN (23.75 and 19.84 lbf.ft )

   (4) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
