A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-20-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
   (2) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (4) Use external power to energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (5) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:
  • on the ECAM control panel (CP), push in the FUEL pushbutton switch (P/BSW)
  • make sure that the engine LP valves are shown closed (amber cross-line) on the ECAM lower display unit (DU).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

A. Drain the Fuel from the Pylon Engine Fuel Feed Pipe
   (1) Remove the drain plug from the fuel filter housing and drain the fuel from the engine and fuel feed pipe (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-000-002).
   (2) When the flow of fuel stops, install the drain plug in the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-400-002).
Subtask 28-20-00-680-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Pylon Engine Fuel-Feed-Pipe
   (1) Remove the drain plug from the fuel filter housing and drain the fuel from the engine and fuel feed pipe (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-000-004).
   (2) When the flow of fuel stops, install the drain plug in the fuel filter housing (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-10-400-004).
Subtask 28-20-00-680-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Fuel from the Pylon Engine Fuel-Feed-Pipe
   (1) Remove the drain plug from the fuel-cooled oil cooler and drain the fuel from the engine and fuel feed pipe (Ref. AMM TASK 73-12-42-000-010).
   (2) When the flow of fuel stops, install the drain plug in the fuel-cooled oil cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 73-12-42-400-010).
Subtask 28-20-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Pylon Engine-Fuel-Feed-Pipe Seals
   (1) Remove the pipe assembly (15) as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (20) and the nut (16) from the clamp (17).
     (b) Move the bonding leads (18) and (19) away from the clamp (17).
     (c) Remove the nuts (6) and the bolts (1) from the clamps (2).
     (d) Remove the nuts (28) and the bolts (31) from the clamps (29).
     (e) Disengage the sleeves (7) and (30) and move them away on the pipe assembly (15).
     (f) Remove the pipe assembly (15) from the pipe assemblies (3) and (34).
     (g) Remove the sleeves (7) and (30).
     (h) Remove and discard the O-rings (4) and (5) from the pipe assembly (3).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (i) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from:
  • The nuts (8), (12), (23) and (27)
  • The connectors (10) and (25).
     (j) Loosen the nuts (8), (12), (23) and (27).
     (k) Remove the nuts (8) and (27).
     (l) Remove and discard the retaining rings (9) and (26).
     (m) Remove the connector (10) and the nut (12) from the pipe assembly (15).
     (n) Remove and discard the retaining ring (11).
     (o) Remove the connector (25) and the nut (23) from the pipe assembly (15).
     (p) Remove and discard the retaining ring (24).
     (q) Remove and discard the O-rings (13), (14), (21) and (22) from the pipe assembly (15).
     (r) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (2) Remove the pipe assembly (34) as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolts (62) and disconnect the bonding lead (18) from the pipe assembly (34).
     (b) Remove the bolts (42) and the washers (41) and disconnect the bonding lead (40) from the pipe assembly (34).
     (c) Remove the pipe assembly (34) from the RIB 9.
     (d) Remove the sealant from the mating surface of the pipe assembly (34) and the RIB 9.
     (e) Clean the mating surface of the pipe assembly (34).
     (f) Remove and discard the O-rings (32), (33), (43) and (44) from the pipe assembly (34).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (3) Remove the pipe assembly (35) between RIB 5 and RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolts (45) and (60) and the nuts (38) and (50) from the pipe assembly (35).
     (b) Move the bonding leads (46) and (59) away from the pipe assembly (35).
     (c) Remove the nut (48) and the bolt (36) from the clamp (47).
     (d) Remove the nut (56) and the bolt (53) from the clamp (55).
     (e) Remove the nut (58) and the bolt (52) from the clamp (57).
     (f) Remove the bushings (37), (51) and (54) from the pipe assembly (35).
     (g) Carefully remove the pipe assembly (35).
     (h) Remove and discard the O-rings (39) and (49) from the pipe assembly (35).
     (i) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 28-20-00-410-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the fuel pipes to make sure that there is no blockage.
NOTE: The damage limits for the fuel pipes and the fuel line shrouds are given in the Fuel-Pipe Repair Manual (Ref. FPRM Check) and (Ref. FPRM Description).
Subtask 28-20-00-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Installation of the Pylon Engine-Fuel-Feed-Pipe Seals
   (1) Install the pipe assembly (35) between the RIB 5 and RIB 9 as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new items that follow with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) :
     (b) Install the O-rings (39) and (49) in the correct position on the pipe assembly (35).
     (c) Install the pipe assembly (35) between the RIBS 5 and 9.
     (d) Install the bushings (37), (51) and (54) on the pipe assembly (35).
  • Make sure that the bushings are seated between the clamps and the pipe assembly (35).
     (e) Attach the ends of the clamp (47) with the bolt (36) and the nut (48).
     (f) Attach the ends of the clamp (55) with the bolt (53) and the nut (56).
     (g) Attach the ends of the clamp (57) with the bolt (52) and the nut (58).
     (h) TORQUE the nuts (48), (56) and (58) to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T.
   (2) Install the pipe assembly (34) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new items that follow with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.
03FAB1) :
     (b) Install the O-rings (32), (33), (43) and (44) in the correct position on the pipe assembly (34).
     (c) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) to the mating surface of the pipe assembly (34) and the structure.
     (d) Install the pipe assembly (34) on the pipe assembly (35).
     (e) Make sure the distance "B" between the ends of the pipe assemblies (35) and (61) is 5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1969 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
       1 Measure the distance of the pipe assembly (35) movement as follows:
         a Move pipe assembly (35) in one direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the related connector.
         b Move pipe assembly (35) fully in the opposite direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the opposite side related connector.
         c The total movement must be between 6 mm (0.2362 in.) and 14 mm (0.5512 in.).
         d Set each pipe assembly in the middle position between the two related connectors.
     (f) Make sure the distance "B" between the ends of the pipe assemblies (34) and (35) is 5 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1969 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
       1 Measure the distance of the pipe assembly (35) movement as follows:
         a Move pipe assembly (35) in one direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the related connector.
         b Move pipe assembly (35) fully in the opposite direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the opposite side related connector.
         c The total movement must be between 6 mm (0.2362 in.) and 14 mm (0.5512 in.).
         d Set each pipe assembly in the middle position between the two related connectors.
     (g) Attach the pipe assembly (34) and the bonding lead (40) on the RIB 9 with the bolts (42) and the washers (41) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (h) Attach the pipe assembly (34) and the bonding lead (18) on the bracket (63) with the bolts (62) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (3) Attach the bonding lead (46) to the pipe assembly (35) with the bolt (45) and the nut (38) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (4) Attach the bonding lead (59) to the pipe assembly (35) with the bolt (60) and the nut (50) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (5) TORQUE the nuts (38) and (50) to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Install the pipe assembly (15) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new items that follow with Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.
03FAB1) :
     (b) Install the O-rings (4) and (5) in the correct position on the pipe assembly (3).
     (c) Install the O-rings (13), (14), (21) and (22) in the correct position on the pipe assembly (15).
     (d) Install the nuts (12) and (23) and the new
AIPC 28-21-06-01-180 RETAINING RING (11) new AIPC 28-21-06-01-180 RETAINING RING (24) on the pipe assembly (15)
     (e) Put the connectors (10) and (25) on the pipe assembly (15).
  • Move the connectors a short distance up and down the pipe assembly to correctly install the O-rings.
     (f) Put the pipe assembly (15) in position between the pipe assemblies (3) and (34).
  • Make sure the distance "A" between the ends of the pipes is 5 +3 mm or -3 mm (0.1969 +0.1181 in. or -0.1181 in.).
       1 Measure the distance of the pipe assembly (15) movement as follows:
         a Move pipe assembly (15) in one direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the related connector.
         b Move pipe assembly (15) fully in the opposite direction, until it touches the shoulder inside the opposite side related connector.
         c The total movement must be between 4 mm (0.1575 in.) and 16 mm (0.6299 in.).
         d Set each pipe assembly in the middle position between the two related connectors.
     (g) Install the nut (8) and the new
AIPC 28-21-06-01-110 RETAINING RING (9) on the connectors (10).
     (h) Install the nut (27) and the new
AIPC 28-21-06-01-110 RETAINING RING (26) on the connector (25).
     (i) Hand tighten the nuts (8), (12), (23) and (27).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (j) Safety the nuts (8) and (12) to the connector (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (k) Safety the nuts (23) and (27) to the connector (25) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (l) Put the sleeves (7) and (30) on the pipe assembly (15).
  • Move the sleeves a short distance up and down the pipe assembly to correctly install the O-rings.
     (m) Install the clamps (2) with the bolts (1) and the nuts (6).
     (n) Install the clamps (29) with the bolts (31) and the nuts (28).
     (o) Attach the bonding leads (18) and (19) to the clamp (17) with the bolt (20) and the nut (16) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (p) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T.
