A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
   (1) Remove the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the LH wing remove:
     (b) For the RH wing remove:
     (c) For the center tank remove:
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540(640).
   (3) Open the fuel-surge access doors on Rib 2 as follows:
     (a) Open the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS).
     (b) Open the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS).
Subtask 28-18-44-010-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels that follow:
     (a) For the left wing:
     (b) For the right wing:
     (c) For the center tank:
   (3) Remove the applicable RIB2 access panels that follow:
     (a) For the left wing, remove 540AZ and 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
     (b) For the right wing, remove 640AZ and 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-18-44-210-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL CABLES IN FUEL TANKS ARE CORRECTLY SUPPORTED (BY CLIPS AND OTHER SUPPORTS). IF CLIPS OR SUPPORTS ARE MISSING OR DAMAGED, YOU MUST REPLACE THEM.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION AND ROUTING OF ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES AGREE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ELECTRICAL STANDARD PRACTICES MANUAL.
WARNING: DO NOT REPAIR CABLES THAT ARE IN FUEL TANKS. DO NOT MAKE IN-LINE SPLICES. IF A CABLE IS DEFECTIVE, YOU MUST REPLACE THE FULL CABLE ASSEMBLY.
A. General Visual Inspection of Internal Tank Wiring and Probe Attachments

F Wing Tank Harness - Cable Routing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Do a visual inspection of the tank wiring harnesses as follows:
     (a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF to examine all of the tank wiring harnesses. Make sure that:
  • there is no sign of wear or damage to the harness or harness connections
  • there is no sign of corrosion on the harness connections
  • the harness insulation is in good condition
  • the harness clamps and brackets are all correctly installed.
NOTE: If wear or damage is found, refer to the Electrical Standard Practices Manual for data.
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the fuel quantity probes as follows:
NOTE: Do an inspection of all the fuel quantity probes in the bay that you are in. There will not be a fuel quantity probe in all bays of the fuel tanks.
     (a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF to examine all of the fuel quantity probes. Make sure that:
  • there is no sign of damage to the probes
  • there is no sign of corrosion on the probe connections
  • the probe clamps and brackets are all correctly installed.
     (b) Replace all probes that are not in the correct condition:

A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) and close the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ).
   (2) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) and close the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
   (4) Install the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the LH wing install:
     (b) For the RH wing install:
     (c) For the center tank install:

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable RIB2 access panels that follow:
     (a) For the left wing, install 540AZ and 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-400-002).
     (b) For the right wing, install 640AZ and 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-400-002).
   (3) Install the applicable access panels that follow:
     (a) For the left wing:
     (b) For the right wing:
     (c) For the center tank:

B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Refuel the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).

   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
