A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work near the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats and flaps.
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Fully extend the flaps and slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed in the flap/slat control lever.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the area to be examined in zone 500(600).
   (2) Remove the applicable leading edge panels:

A. General Visual Inspection of Wing Leading Edge and Trailing Edge Electrical Wiring and Connections
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION AND ROUTING OF ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES AGREE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ELECTRICAL STANDARD PRACTICES MANUAL.
   (1) Do a visual check of the leading and trailing edge wiring as follows:
     (a) Use a MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE and a FLASHLIGHT and examine all of the wiring. Make sure that:
  • there is no sign of wear or damage to the wiring harness or harness connections
  • there is no sign of corrosion on the wiring connections
  • the harness insulation is in good condition
  • the harness clamps and brackets are all correctly installed.
NOTE: If wear or damage is found, the wiring must be repaired. Refer to the Electrical Standard Practices Manual for repair data.

   (1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) Fully retract the flaps and slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
