A. Safety Precautions
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
Subtask 28-18-00-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001). (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
Subtask 28-18-00-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
C. Get Access
(1) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) For the LH wing remove:
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540(640).
(3) Open the fuel-surge access doors on Rib 2 as follows:
(a) Open the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS).
(b) Open the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS).
Subtask 28-18-00-010-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) For the LH wing remove:
- 540AB 540BB 540CB 540DB 540EB 540FB 540GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002)
- 540HB 540JB 540KB 540LB 540MB 540NB 540PB 540QB 540RB, 550AB 550BB 550CB 550DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
- 640AB 640BB 640CB 640DB 640EB 640FB 640GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002)
- 640HB 640JB 640KB 640LB 640MB 640NB 640PB 640QB 640RB, 650AB 650BB 650CB 650DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540(640).
(3) Open the fuel-surge access doors on Rib 2 as follows:
(a) Open the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS).
(b) Open the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ) and hold it in position with the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS).
C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) For the left wing:

4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540 (640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) For the left wing:
- Remove 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB and 540GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002)
- Remove 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB, 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB and 550DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
- Remove 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB and 640GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002)
- Remove 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB, 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB and 650DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
- Remove 147AZ ( 148AZ) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(a) For the left wing:
- Remove 540AZ and 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
- Remove 640AZ and 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-000-002).
Subtask 28-18-00-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Detailed Inspection of the Tank Bonding Leads
(1) Examine all the bonding leads in each wing tank and the center tank as follows:
(a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to make sure that all the bonding leads are correctly installed.
(b) Carefully examine all the bonding leads and make sure that:
(d) Make sure that the bonding lead connections are in good condition.
(2) Replace all the defective bonding leads (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 28-18-00-210-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine all the bonding leads in each wing tank and the center tank as follows:
(a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to make sure that all the bonding leads are correctly installed.
(b) Carefully examine all the bonding leads and make sure that:
- They are not broken
- There are no broken strands
- The outer braid sheaths are not loose in the end crimps
- There is no sign of damage or corrosion.
NOTE: It is not important to replace the bonding leads that shows signs of tarnish.
(c) Carefully pull each bonding lead to make sure that the end crimps are correctly attached. (d) Make sure that the bonding lead connections are in good condition.
(2) Replace all the defective bonding leads (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
A. Detailed Inspection of the Tank Bonding Leads
(1) Examine all the bonding leads in each wing tank and the center tank as follows:
(a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to make sure that all the bonding leads are correctly installed.
(b) Carefully examine all the bonding leads and make sure that:
(d) Make sure that the bonding lead connections are in good condition.
(2) Replace all the defective bonding leads (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
5. Close-up(1) Examine all the bonding leads in each wing tank and the center tank as follows:
(a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to make sure that all the bonding leads are correctly installed.
(b) Carefully examine all the bonding leads and make sure that:
- They are not broken
- There are no broken strands

Subtask 28-18-00-410-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) and close the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ).
(2) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) and close the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(4) Install the applicable access panels:
(a) For the LH wing install:
Subtask 28-18-00-410-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) and close the FWD fuel-surge door 540AZ(640AZ).
(2) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) and close the AFT fuel-surge door 540BZ(640BZ).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(4) Install the applicable access panels:
(a) For the LH wing install:
- 540AB 540BB 540CB 540DB 540EB 540FB 540GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001)
- 540HB 540JB 540KB 540LB 540MB 540NB 540PB 540QB 540RB, 550AB 550BB 550CB 550DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
- 640AB 640BB 640CB 640DB 640EB 640FB 640GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001)
- 640HB 640JB 640KB 640LB 640MB 640NB 640PB 640QB 640RB, 650AB 650BB 650CB 650DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable RIB2 access panels:
(a) For the left wing:

Subtask 28-18-00-650-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 28-18-00-942-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable RIB2 access panels:
(a) For the left wing:
- Install 540AZ and 540BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-400-002).
- Install 640AZ and 640BZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-12-400-002).
(a) For the left wing:
- Install 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB and 540GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001)
- Install 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB, 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB and 550DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
- Install 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB and 640GB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001)
- Install 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB, 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB and 650DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002).
- Install 147AZ ( 148AZ) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
C. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
