Installation of the Transfer Valve Drive

A. Safety Precautions
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
Subtask 28-15-42-865-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the applicable No. 3 spoiler is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the applicable spoiler servo-control.
(4) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(5) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable zone 540(640).
(7) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):
(a) FOR [71QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, L REAR SPAR)
remove 540JB and 540KB
(b) FOR [73QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, R REAR SPAR)

4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008) and that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the slat/flap control lever. (2) Make sure that the applicable No. 3 spoiler is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the applicable spoiler servo-control.
(4) Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(5) Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable zone 540(640).
(7) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):

remove 540JB and 540KB
(b) FOR [73QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, R REAR SPAR)

Subtask 28-15-42-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the AIPC 28-15-42-02-020 O-RINGS (2).
(5) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the AIPC 28-15-42-02-030 O-RINGS (10).
(6) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to the AIPC 28-15-05-01-090 O-RING (9) or AIPC 28-15-85-01-090 O-RING (9).
(7) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the internal bearing surface of the actuator mounting (3).

(6) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to the AIPC 28-15-05-01-090 O-RING (9) or AIPC 28-15-85-01-090 O-RING (9).
(7) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the internal bearing surface of the actuator mounting (3).
B. Installation of the Transfer Valve Drive 71QM(73QM)
(1) Install the new O-ring seals (9) and (10), on the transfer valve drive (12).
(2) Install the new O-ring seals (2), on the actuator mounting (3).
(3) Put the transfer valve drive (12) in position and install the bolts (11).
(4) Install the bonding strap (6), the screw (7) and the nut (4) on the actuator mounting (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(5) Put the actuator mounting (3) in position and install the nuts (5).
(7) Install the transfer valve (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-41-400-001).
Subtask 28-15-42-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the new O-ring seals (9) and (10), on the transfer valve drive (12).
(2) Install the new O-ring seals (2), on the actuator mounting (3).
(3) Put the transfer valve drive (12) in position and install the bolts (11).
(4) Install the bonding strap (6), the screw (7) and the nut (4) on the actuator mounting (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(5) Put the actuator mounting (3) in position and install the nuts (5).
NOTE: The actuator mounting (3) will only fit in one position.
(6) Install the transfer valve actuator (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-51-400-002). (7) Install the transfer valve (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-41-400-001).
C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002):
(a) FOR [71QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, L REAR SPAR)
install 540JB 540KB
(b) FOR [73QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, R REAR SPAR)

E. Operational Test
(1) Do a BITE of the intercell transfer valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-00-740-002).

A. Aircraft Configuration
(2) On the spoiler servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex. head is opposite the letter 'O' on the housing.
(3) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
Subtask 28-15-42-650-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).

C. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

(3) Remove the access platform(s).

Transfer Valve Drive
