   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
   (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the slat/flap control lever.
   (3) Extend the No. 3 spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the applicable spoiler servo-control.

D. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

E. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable zone 540(640).
   (2) Remove the applicable wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):

     (a) FOR [71QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, L REAR SPAR)
remove 540JB 540KB
     (b) FOR [73QM] (DRIVE SHAFT-TRANSFER VALVE, R REAR SPAR)
remove 640JB 640KB.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-15-42-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Transfer Valve Drive 71QM(73QM)
   (1) Remove the applicable transfer valve actuator (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-51-000-002).
   (2) Hold the transfer valve drive (12) and remove the applicable transfer valve (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-15-41-000-001).
   (3) Remove the nuts (5) and pull away the actuator mounting (3) to remove the bonding strap (6). Remove and discard the O-ring seals (2).
   (4) Remove the nut (4) and the screw (7), and disconnect the bonding strap (6). Remove the actuator mounting (3).
   (5) Remove the bolts (11) and the transfer valve drive (12).
   (6) Remove and discard the O-ring seals (9) and (10).
